Asim
Pak since recently selects squad consisting 3 types of players i. few senior players who are still in good form, will get more chances though ii. player who have performed really good in most recent domestic seasons, no matter WhoEver they are, whatever their age iii. is most interesting, very very young players who looks really good prospects, directly selected through any trials, local tournament, camps etc, doesn't matter how much first class experience they got (Shadab started First-class/ListA cricket hardly an year ago)... Credit to Pak for not shying to throw young blood at ANY stage of Any tournament, 3 players making a debut here in CT, even in SF, no other team would do ... remember 17 yrs old Amir making international debut in WorldT20? Many other Pak greats started same way... I however feel in Final, major diff was team's mindset and 'hunger for win', not the selection... Sure you were not posting this if Final result was diff, and we probably cant conclude "Pakistan selectors outsmarted..." based on 1 match only... GoldenSun 1 Link to comment
vvvslaxman
Hardik Pandya proved what was wrong with the selection. Actual performers in the IPL were not picked. Krunal Pandya, Chahal, Nitish Rana, Tripathi, Rishab Pant. Instead we went with same old same old. I still vividly remember Ajay Jadeja's debut against pakistan. He was cool as cucumber with no fear. So was Sachin Edited June 21, 2017 by vvvslaxman Link to comment
SecondSlip
BUMP! Indian selectors need to learn from their Pakistani counterparts. They are giving their youngsters such as Imam Ul Haq & Asif Ali chances while we keep bringing back old discards such as Raina & Rayudu. Suhaan and ThePhenomenal1 1 1 Link to comment

Indian selectors are not selectors per say...actually they are rubber stamp facilitators...Once you understand this, you won’t blame them... Suhaan 1 Link to comment
kosingh
One thing Pakistanis have done better is to appoint to the selection committee people who have clout. In India, there are simply better opportunities for ex cricketers who have clout than to be selectors. Selections are left to the likes of MSK Prasad. And that's not going to change. Link to comment
Nikhil_cric
The problem is after the CT thrashing, our selectors replaced the older spin duo with Chahal/Kuldeep and while that is commendable, the real problem was and is the batting. Apart from Dhawan and Kohli, there are no clutch batsmen in that lineup. All has beens were/are being brought back like yuvraj/raina/DK etc. or mediocre talents like Jadhav. Khota
Pakistan and PCB has done a remarkable job of man management and coaching. Currently they look like a well oiled machine whereas under Kohli India looks like a boat adrift in ocean with no direction. From top to bottom BCCI looks fat dumb and happy. It is a money making machine for elite few with no one being held accountable for results. It is unbelievable the way the pimp shastri build up dhoni just sums up the entire problem. GautiMaan
They put a man of stature and experience in charge of things We had someone like that in a similar position but alpha dog Kohli would not answer to anyone and everyone was happy to oblige Switchblade and beetle 2 Link to comment
mpatel812
Indian batting order in T20/ODI : Dhawan,Rohit ,Virat ,Lokesh Rahul (who should be a guaranteed starter for next 20 games), Risabh Pant(wk), Krunal Pandya (who lends greater balance than Manish Pandey or Suresh Raina) and Hardik Pandya . It is a good team with right balance of freakish batters who can indulge in crazy six hitting (Rohit,Hardik,Pant) to compliment with traditional batters (Kohli,Dhawan,KLRahul)who are more of ground shot boundary players . In IPL, Krunal Pandya is proven as good as Robin singh (if one has to cite an example) when it comes to late order batting. His left arm spin is very decent and can get couple wickets in between especially if he is targeted becos other teams may decide to play kuldeep +chahal more safely. When it comes to bowling Bumrah along with one out of Shami/Bhuvi/Umesh should be main bowlers along with Kuldeep + Chahal spin combo. This team has at its availability 30 overs of spin or seam bowling which can be utlised as per pitch conditions. As 5th bowler ,if its spin track , Krunal can bowl 10 overs or if seam track then Hardik can put in 10 overs. Anyway bowling has never been India's strength but in past tournaments bowlers have delivered ,so this is best bowling combo available to get 10 wkts. If this team is selected,it will surely encounter challenges and setbacks in the coming months, but if one has to take France example from FIFA worldcup 2018, youngsters have a higher probability of getting India the ICC WC2019. vayuu1
I think it's because bcci is in a mess right now because of the bcci lodha tussle that is going on, that is why Kohli and shastri are taking too much leverage right now, but I have heard the issue is sooner be solved and that's when things will starts returning back to normal, you will see selection committee will be sacked Link to comment
