Whats happened to Suresh Raina

he has been one of our best LOI performers. Why isnt he anywhere near our ODI squad. He cant be worse than Yuvi or MSD. Why was he dropped in the first place.

He would be, but that's not saying much. Boycotts grandmother is also slightly better than Yuvi currently.

Politics happened , he never performed disastrously for us .  His performance dipped slightly at the same time when Jadeja was on the rise and the mantle from the new uprising all rounder went from Raina to Jadeja but like for every cricketer the tide turns and Raina is certainly showing the signs to make a comeback and has worked hard at improving his game and with Jadeja struggling with the ball and is horrible with the bat, it's time that Raina should be given a fair chance.  Him and Pandya could be crucial for us at 7/8 position.

He is abetter bet than Rohit, Yuvraj and Jadhav. He could have played and performed.

He is not from Mumbai... Sachin or shastri or gavaskar doesn't vouch for him like they do for Rohit or rahane

How is he better than Jadhav? Better fielder, about equal as bowler on current form. Jadhav has performed well with bat in the few batting opportunities he's had (and scores faster than Raina). Besides, Raina's form in recent times is not very strong.

Raina can't play the short ball...Indian cricket can't carry on with batsmen like this who don't even know their basics well.

He got his chances in ODI's, he is still one of the best in twenty20s infact at times better than Kohli and Rohit in the format. I would pick him any day in t20s but can't select him for 50 overs now.

And rohit can't play any quality bowler... He is somehow is the playing XI isn't it ?

that isnt a problem in the shorter formats. rohit cant play the moving ball which is why he shouldnt play Tests.

Raina has his shortcomings but its staggering that he has been ousted by a semi-retired Yuvraj Singh.

I'm not saying that Yuvraj should play. But Raina definitely shouldn't play. Short ball can be a problem even in shorter formats on certain wickets with the right bowler. Not the type of liability we should look to carry in our team. 

 

Agree that Rohit is not perfect, but he's a cut above raina and has held his own at the top of the order. 

 

Next World Cup will be in England and raina played horribly in CT2013.

A sportsmen just cant be this unfit.

Disagree with your version.   

 

Middle order can only carry so many aging veterans - Dhoni is in due to his glovework, which made it boil down to Yuvi and Raina - Raina is seen as a #6 specialist due to the failure of "Project Raina".  And Yuvi is the bigger "name".   So when push came to shove, Yuvi was preferred to Raina.

raina performed well in 2014 ODI series in England. scored 75 ball 100 against them.

I think Raina is doing well recently. gambhir, Dhawan and raina all three performed better than the golden boys of Indian cricket Yuvraj, Dhoni and Sharma.

Well , regardless of what happened , I am sure Yuvi's seniority wasn't the only fsctor - his closeness to Virat , punjabi X factor and ofcourse his seniority played a part as well. but if Yuvi was given another chance last year , Jadeja is still persisted with then why not give Raina another chance. 

I can definitely see Raina and Pandya doing a much better job than Jadeja because Jadeja with the bat is like a bull without balls , quite redundant.

I don't understand why you keep clubbing Raina and Jadeja together.  Jaddu plays as a bowler.  Raina plays as a batsman.   It's never a choice between the two.
