PSB_Zone Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 (edited) -Raina is more than 2 years yonger to Jadhav and almost a decade more experinced . -Jadhav is an avg fielder ..Raina is a grt fielder and way more fitter rescently. -I know jadhav with that action has taken few wickets but Raina can too roll his arm over .. -I dont think jadhav is a better hitter or runner either .At that position running is important. -True Raina has some short commings but so has Jadhav. That short ball thing is not a too much problem at no. 6 either.. -Being a Left hander he gives that edge in the end batting with pandya/Dhoni (Left/Right combination). India do hv a barrage of Right handers as of now ... Plz discuss? Edited September 4, 2017 by PSB_Zone sandeep, Sgattick10, Vilander and 1 other 1 3
tweaker Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Jadhav should get more opportunities as he has done reasonably better before this series. Raina had got his opportunities but he has not made good use of them Pollack and Ankit_sharma03 1 1

Sgattick10 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Raina at no. 6 is better then jadhav, dhoni and the likes. He has the power game is our 2nd best fielder PSB_Zone 1

sandeep Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 I love Raina - the definition of a team player. If he's still playing at the level he was able to 4 years ago, then yes, he can do the job. But the bigger question is, will he able to do the job in 2019 WC? I doubt that. Hence the auditioning of Jadhav as his replacement. The Dark Horse and PSB_Zone 2
SK_IH Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 i think raina will definitely make a comeback,he is not that old and looks like working on fitness as well these days
PSB_Zone Posted September 3, 2017 Author Posted September 3, 2017 Left Right partnership at the end do give edge as well..This point is very less discussed ..Anyway no way jadhav is better in any aspect.. Even if raina is slightly less then his fielding gives him the age.. Not even talking abt his experince sandeep 1

Raina lost out because we already have 2 oldies in the team in MS and Yuvi. With Yuvi out, there's a small window of opportunity for him.

FORGET Raina is just 30 ..when he was left out he was even younger..He is younger and fitter and best fielder ..with such attributes even age 40 wd not hv matered

That avg could hv been much more but thx to Msd ,selfless raina took all the risks and Msd took all the Not outs... So his critics should nt read too much in that average Laaloo, Sgattick10 and The Dark Horse 3
express bowling Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 But Jadhav is a higher average and much higher SR No.6 batter compared to Raina.

This sample size logic is often wrongly used, forgetting the original point being discussed. If a player performs really well in 28 ODIs, why should he be dropped ? OpeningBatsman 1

We may have better players at No.6 after 2 or 3 years.... maybe someone like Pant or some other new-age batter. The question is whether Jadhav is good enough till 2019 WC ?
vvvslaxman Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Jadhav is somewhat unreliable these days. He doesn't play percentage cricket like Pandey.

Nothing against Jadhav , but hes choked everytime under pressure . The one knock where he played brilliantly with Virat, did everything right till the point he played a stupid shot and got out and India lost eventually . Hes a good player when we bat first and does most things Raina would do for us , but its when chasing Raina is special . Sgattick10 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 When a player looses his place he has to earn his way back- i dnt knw what raina has done Has his bouncer issue been soughed - No, infact the expectation of a bouncer makes him fall for a full delivery as well fall in fitness and his own coach pointing out towards his attitude hasnt helped his case. The biggest reason he has fallen behind is team has invested a lot in him and the result arent upto expectation . I understand he does a tough role but not able to get over his weekness and drop in fitness is no excuse. The reason he gets a tough position coz he is not good enough to bat in top or middle . Now teams needs Raina , jadhav both wnt offer more then 3-4 overs regulalry and their bowling is more suited for subcontinent . So their other areas of weekness will be highlighted more For no . 6- lets start to look at krunal, shankar Krunal- he also has a issue with bouncer but he needs to be given time to improve Shankar - Again deserves time n backing Raina has been backed long , no point going back to him now. Atleast yuvraj singh went back to domestic n scored runs wereas raina skipped most of the domestic season Sorry such attitude shudnt be rewarded specially when a player is dropped
