Most double hundreds in test cricket

They are eminently comparable.  Both were teenage prodigies who went on to fulfill their promise, unlike the vast majority that flame out after a short run.  Both were hallmarks of technical perfection breathed to life by the sporting gods.   Both had (have?) a tragic flaw of crumbling under pressure at times.

:bumsmack:Roger didn't choke under pressure like sachin did... no where near close.

BS.  He was lucky enough to play an individual sport and didn't come under pressure because he rarely played a match-up which wasn't heavily in his favor on a skill level.  Why is that the few times he played against Nadal - a guy not as technically strong or well-rounded, and came up short? Even when Nadal was nowhere near 100% fitness?  Because in that heat of competition, "RF" shat his little white swiss pants.   Takes nothing away from the breath-taking brilliance that is Federer's game though.

I know you have a silly troll agenda when it comes to Sachin, and I shouldn't even bother wasting my time 'discussing' with you.  But will jump in occasionally when the mood strikes...

Bradman was the best batsman ever in tests. The difference in Bradmans average and that of the other best players of his era was too much. There is not much difference in the average of Virat and that of modern day greats like Smith, Sachin, Kallis, Dravid, Sanga, Ponting, Lara, Amla, MOYO.

On Bradman.. he is probably the greatest sportsman the planet earth has seen. Jamshed Khan of squash has better records but in a sport hardly played seriously by hundred guys. Bradman infact scored all those runs at a staggering strikerate of those times.

His anti-sachin posts are so skewed, its almost a parody of hate.  I think its more of a 'settling scores' with other posters thing, rather than an actual anti-Tendy thing.  But whatever floats his boat.  He's actually a decent poster when he's not on his troll mode with Tendy or Dhoni.

Incredible that all these 200s of Kohli came with in a span of 18 months or so.Being an Indian, feels happy for this achievement. Despite that,  game sense  telling he is   still way trailing the likes of Ponting,Dravid,Kallis,Sachin etc etc who has much lesser 200s/inns rate because of the comparatively lower general bowling standard  going on these  days.

I actually agree with this.  His post tennis elbow career is markedly below his standards, and does not reflect his freakish batting ability.  I blame the middle-2000s period where - in my interpretation and belief - he set himself an internal milestone to push his average up into the 60s.   The declaration fiasco, was a direct result of this, and a perfect example of how his method backfired, and eventually dragged his average lower.

I agree with the post pretty much but that bold part. Can you may be elaborate? I think deep inside everyone set some milestons in batting. I personally think after 2003 world cup, he started looking at the game differently. He really wanted that world cup and by the the time 2003 came he knew other great players had lot to show in terms of world cup and he did not have any. Then 2007 happened and it made things worse. I think his game was still good around that time, but he wasn’t the player he used to be before. He was still scoring runs, bur I really felt he was underachiever for someone who played a massive 200 tests and in the era especialy when declarations were almost always delayed by captains.

He could have easily racked up few extra double hundreds.

Ok Sachin v smith debate is about Sachin . Indulge in hammering and rhetoric. But every god dammn topic you refer to him somehow lol guy retired years ago and no one even replies and takes the bait .

The only reason Sachin under achieved is he got thrown into fire too young when he needed to learn the art of scoring big runs.Imagine you being a 16 year old facing world fastest bowlers.Sachin early on his career got himself out with his impetuosity rather bowlers getting him out and that is direct result of him not playing enough domestic cricket and learning art of pacing big innings.

It is a testament to his character that he fulfilled so many expectations despite having so many temptations.

Bhuvi ? Makes team in all 3 formats

don’t see anyone constantly bringing dhoni in to every topic possible . Is people wanting dhoni dropped thing which is has pushed you to such extremes ? You target kohli and Sachin, all linked to some bizzare attempt to compensate for dhoni bashing ?
