it's amazing that all his double hundreds have came in last 18 months. Doubt anyone has scored more in so less time.

Most 200s in away matches

Bradman, Hammond, Sanga, Lara - 5

Greame Smith, Younis - 4

We have to look at both number of 200s and innings. Bradman = freak

 

Ind record is with Viru. 6 doubles at one per 30 innings. Ten has 6 too but would have a lot more innings

 

Virat is at approx 1 every 20 innings (Hammond’s rate). So that is a record for Ind already in terms of # of innings with those with 5 doubles or more

 

Lara is impressive too at 1 every  25/26 innings esp considering the attacks he fired against

Law of Large Numbers... and SRT's sample size is about as large as it gets.

In terms of number of 200s maybe (although even that will be very challenging).

 

But Bradman's record is 12 doubles in 52 Tests.  Kohli is 5 doubles in 62 Test already played.

 

Looking at it from thataways, the game is already over.

 

Of course the slot fo # 2- beating Sanga (current #2) and Lara (#3) - is wide open.  Kolhli will prolly will beat Lara and should prolly beat Sanga.

Bradman was the best batsman ever in tests. The difference in Bradmans average and that of the other best players of his era was too much. There is not much difference in the average of Virat and that of modern day greats like Smith, Sachin, Kallis, Dravid, Sanga, Ponting, Lara, Amla, MOYO.

I actually agree with this.  His post tennis elbow career is markedly below his standards, and does not reflect his freakish batting ability.  I blame the middle-2000s period where - in my interpretation and belief - he set himself an internal milestone to push his average up into the 60s.   The declaration fiasco, was a direct result of this, and a perfect example of how his method backfired, and eventually dragged his average lower.

They are eminently comparable.  Both were teenage prodigies who went on to fulfill their promise, unlike the vast majority that flame out after a short run.  Both were hallmarks of technical perfection breathed to life by the sporting gods.   Both had (have?) a tragic flaw of crumbling under pressure at times.
