3 Tests that i can never forget are

1987 India vs Pakistan, Bangalore  India was within stone's throw distance of a win. bottled it. Tough chase though on a minefield

1997 India vs West Indies, Bridgetown , Barbados. One of the painful losses ever for India. All India had to do was chase a meagre total of 120.. But i have to say careless umpiring cost India that match. Atleast 3 batsmen were out of noballs in both the innings.

1999, India vs Pakistan, Chennai. Compared to other 2. India should have won this comfortably. Our tail just bottled it under pressure. All they had to do was picking few singles here and there.

That loss to SL a couple of series ago.   I was seriously pissed at the team for losing that game.

That wasn’t exactly a choke...credit where due Chandimal played out of his skin...one of the better back to the wall knocks I have seen in recent times....surprisingly it was overtaken by Pujara’s knock in the next test.

Not exactly a choke again but we had a great chance of going 1-0 up last tour to South Africa and even tie 1-1 last tour to Newzealand...on both occasions

1)Pitch flattened out completely

2)a couple of batsmen from opposition found their mojo out of nowhere

3) Our bowlers lost steam which could even be overlooked but they just started bowling crap

5) Dropped crucial catches

Missed out on rare 2 overseas victories which we had in the bag.

Another one was in SA where India had golden chance of winning a Test series in SA after taking first innings lead in the decisive test. On day 4  India made  a blunder by changing the batting order. First innings Karthik made a brilliant 63 as an opener. Viru was severely out of form. So he played in the middle order. At no 6 he made a useful 40. In the 2nd innings Dravid sent Sehwag to open. Viru left early promptly. Karthik made 38 not out as a middle order batsman. That was as purely a stupid call. But Sachin's horrendous display against debutant Paul Harris also played some role. He was treating him like he was unplayable. ENded up making 14 runs in 62 balls.  Karthik was fluently playing him. Messed up a perfect opportunity. That too against a  team that had smith, steyn, abdv, amla, gibbs,  kallis, bouncer, pollock.  Smith cleverly promoted Pollock to finish the 200 plus chase.

2005 Mohali, should have won, same series in Bengaluru we lost to allow that 3rd grade Pak team to get a drawn series !!!! 2006 Karachi, let them off the hook from 39/6, Kolkata 1999 we let them off the hook from 25/6. We have choked so many times against Pakistan :((. Against SA too we have choked many times but also been super clutch equal number of times.

We would have won in Kolkata if it wasnt for that infamous run out.

Chennai 1999 the pitch was rough, so excellent support for reverse swing. Wasim was not 90+ mph at that time, but he displayed his complete mastery over reverse swing in that test and series as well, can't blame the tail who had to deal with very high quality bowling.

In that Chennai match, how do you let the retard score 141?

Just watched that innings on youtube, Venky bowled full tosses 3 feet outside off stump at 120 kph. Aisi bowling se toh bhagwaan bhi nahin madad kar payega.

Same way in Bangalore with a day to go Viru was playing freely after his century in the first innings. Gambhir had run him out. India just floundered after him. With 6 overs to earn a draw and test series win India collapsed. With Viru we would have certainly saved that test.
