Drop rate for someone like Kohli is very high (~45%) than Indian average of 27%.

Surprisingly high drop count for Dravid.

That can be explained.

1. Lot of drops during later stages of career.

2. Close in fielders tend to have higher drop rate (29%-38%). Check the stats in previous post. Dravid fielded mostly in close in position. If you consider that then his average of 22% misses isn't that high for his position.

Maybe but 24 drops in 53 Tests still seems to be on the higher side. Almost Kohli level bad. I somehow seem to have filtered all these drops by Dravid from my memory. I wonder how this site distinguishes half chances from sitters.

It's not Kohli level bad who probably has 40%+ drop in slips.

Where was BMac dropped? Where was Smith dropped 5 times in Pune? I recall many drops in other positions too.

Not just drops, but habbit of needless throws

Ishant to Chandimal, 5 runs, pats the ball towards cover-point where Rohit fires a needless throw enabling four more extra runs via overthrow through the square leg region

and on top of that, inability to get right direct hits.

he did drop a fair number late in his career. and then the mantle passed to king kohli who has conclusively proven to be the worst slip fielder in the last 30 yrs (at least) in India.

Bhuvneshwar to Maharaj, 1 run, Dhawan drops an easy catch. Bhuvi simply turns back and walks to his mark. Good length delivery outside off stujmp, Maharaj tries to drive with no feet, the ball nips away and takes a thick edge, Dhawan moved to his left, came at a very good height but he spilled it

Captain doesn't want his buddy to run much.
