I had the opportunity to visit Tripura and place seemed stuck in a time warp. They were still reading pamphlets of communist manifesto while there were no roads, no connectivity, no jobs, no electricity. Like WB, it seemed like a state almost celebrating its poverty. Don't understand how a State can shift so drastically in three years. Has to be strategist Amit Shah and Himanto Sharma Biswas. At a personal level, Manik Sarkar has the reputation of being austere, but his party cadre are goondas and the lack of development under the commies has come back to bite them. With NDA at the centre and the likes of Shah and Biswa Sarma managing the elections in the North East, they can finally dump the left.
