I was a Dhoni fan when he came and thrashed Pak and Sri Lanka and I am still his fan, but there is a difference between worshiping fanboyism of a particular cricketer and being a cricket fan. Pant can easily play as a specialist bat till than either in T20 or ODI side. Pant is also slowly becoming a 360 degree player. Our top 3 Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli are settled and then Dhoni at 5/6 is a certainty irrespective of what he does with the bat. Pandya at 7. I would actually like Dhoni to bat at 4, Pant 5, and Krunal Pandya at 6 who can also provide as with 6th bowling option. Pandya brothers can move up and down according to the situation and bowlers. There is a case for Rahul too but at which position is something to think about. Can he bat at 4 then Pant will have to sit out because both Pandya brothers are must for next WC. With Krunal being a spin option, we can play an extra seamer and only one of Chahal, Kuldeep or Sundar depending on the conditions. PS: Krishnappa Gowtham is also emerging as a good hard hitting spin bowling alrounder at #7. We can even check him before WC. We are lacking a good off spinner at this point. Sundar does not give much much confidence as a bowler and as a batsman, he has not been utilized yet. I will be tempted to pick Gowtham ahead of Sundar at this point.
