I will always give a player of that level 6 months leverage, only after that can the overstaying timer be set on. Just talking about T20 here, was Dhoni ever a good enough player in this format? He never figured out how to play international T20s and yet has been playing for a decade without trying out some other keeper. Did he deserve to represent India after 2010 WT20? What are his credentials in WT20? How many matches has he singlehandedly lost? How many 50s? How many MOMs?
