Its always about hunger and proffesionalism 

Pant, rahul was most hungry in youngsters

CSK had watson n dhoni who were hungry for success , yuvraj is experienced to but looking at him u dnt see the hunger 

 

Look at kohli vs rohit n raina- almost same ages but the hungry one is fitter and aiming for better and the others have paunches .

 

and as fleming mentioned, these guys arent only experinced they are also proff enough to miantain good fitness

 

If ur fit enough , age is overrated . The might aussie use to play a side that use to be 30+ but they were fit, hungry and professional

You need both. The key is to develope a good metrics and optimize and pick the best player for the prevailing conditions and matchups.

Depends on their form. Last year Dhoni was a liability. This year karthick was a direct threat to him so picked his game up.

Spot on, the only reason dhoni picked his game up this season was because karthik is breathing down his neck, dhoni was slacking off when he knew no body could threaten his place, Karthik's last ball six would have surely given dhoni some nightmares. I am sure that's why he hasn't let pant into the international t20 team and continues to play meaningless international t20s because he knows if any youngster gets a consistent opportunity in the internationals then he will be history.

Rahul has replaced Rohit as of now. He needs to deliver now and get a permanent spot. Today Rahul cannot be overlooked.

Selectors will be doing a great disservice and borderline fraud if they pick Dhoni over Karthick. Karthick has done everything he was supposed to do. Dhoni game winning sixes were meaningless. Karthick's six will go down in history as one of the most clutch shot ever.

In my view T20 is all about form and gelling as a unit.  Look at Rohit Sharma. He sucked balls this season despite he had lot of international cricket where as Rayudu was sizzling who hardly had any practice. Same way KL Rahul just blitzed through the IPL season, Pant did the same. Form is very very vital. KKD's domestic form helped him a lot.
