Expect the ECB to roll out a dead track for T4

Self-explanatory.  England know now that barring luck and toss favoring them, India is the better team and well capable of winning the last 2 tests and pulling out the series.  They have won all 3 tosses so far, but there's no guarantee that will keep happening.  Just like they managed to prepare 2 NZ like green tracks for the 1st 2 tests in spite of being in dry hot conditions for months, expect them to prepare a track to maximize the home team's chances of saving themselves.  

 

They are set to face a massive backlash already about their consistent pattern of failing to put up test match batting.  Another low scoring test and a loss would raise the PR heat to intolerable levels. After all, nobody self-flagellates like the Pommies do.  

 

They have no choice but to put out a dead as a dodo track for the next test.

If thats the case i'd bring in umesh for shami. Umesh has the pace and bounce to exploit a flat track, can keep bowling overs and is a decent tailender now,

Ashwin's injury opens up an important question for the team.  Jadeja or Kuldeep for T4?  I'd be tempted to give Jaddu a go.  But its a toss-up.  Kuldeep hasn't had a chance to bowl at them in a favorable situation - He had about 5 minutes at lords when we made early inroads, but the conditions didn't help at all.  If he gets a total behind him and a bit of grip on the track...

No... They won't.

They want to establish India as another major test series rivalry for England after Australia. So if anything they want results every game to being life to this rivalry. It's very clear that they see Australia and India as the only cricketing nations which can keep test cricket alive in England.

Mainly watched ODIs on tv at Rose Bowl, and often been high scoring games, plenty of bounce, behaves like a Australian pitch 

 

i feel this is the game Lokesh and Rahane will cash in big runs

Fast and bouncy is fine as long as there isnt a great lot of movement.

Yea i was thinking the same ....with a lead and their batsman struggling they might serve absolute patta 

But that can srsly backfire coz our bowlers do have the skill to take something out of that also, theirs dnt

I meant off the deck. If it's a fast pitch with seam movement , it's harder for our top 3 and they struggle. Trent bridge pitch was a bit slower and the likes of Dhawan could adjust somewhat by playing back.

But the thing is our lot is faster than them and with bumrah Now in the mix his awkward bounce will be more than handy on such pitch

Ages bowl is normally a quick pitch which quickens further as the match progresses,it'll suit the indian bowlers more .

Now the contest is between bowling units of both the sides ,batting is almost irrelevant as both unit sucks

On current form, Eng batting is probably still better or more consistent than Ind’s in tough pace bowler friendly conditions .... Eng may also bring back Curran

I strongly disagree.  I'd take my chances with Rahul over either Cook or Jennings.  Kohli vs Root - no contest there.  Pujara/Rahane vs Ollie Pope, who would you rather have?

One way to look at it is how many the teams would get if Kohli and Root were to get 0 for their respective teams.  As you mentioned, the lower order advantage tilts bal moderately in Eng favor

 

if the conditions favor movement for pacers, our top 5 could act like a lottery

ECB can’t control clouds. Even though they might roll pitch with no grass. It will swing because of clouds, humidity and moisture.

And in that scenario, their bowlers will do better with the duke ball than ours.  If there is plenty of help for the bowlers, even Pandya is moving the ball and taking wickets.  Reduce the help to bowlers, and the England bowlers' experience and local knowledge will become a bigger factor...

I see Indian batting getting stronger after Trent bridge and English Bowling only getting weaker .Broad and Anderson will only get slower as series progresses.

Ashwin's injury is a major blow to us.  A 100% fit Ash on a bouncier track in T4 would have been helpful.  

 

 

Man, if we only had a fully fit Bhuvi in this series, we'd have won the series already.
