Keeping the World Cup in mind, we think Rayudu is the best option at No.4 - Virat Kohli

In most cases, Kohli does not let new players to settle down in the team and express themselves fearlessly.

And one of the reasons this happens is because his initial picks are not well thought out.

There are lots of players who pick themselves in both the test and LOI teams.  But the newer entrants have not had it easy.

Only Chahal and Kuldeep have been allowed to settle down ...  and were good picks to start with.  And we have got spectacular results.

I don't like Rayudu as an international batter

BUT

it is still better to let him settle down rather than giving 2 games to different players and dropping them uncereminiously.

The same thing is happening regarding backup pacers.  Poor picks like Kaul, Chahar and Shardul to start with ...  they obviously disappoint ...  then drop them and get others after 2 games.  Now Umesh is brought back in ODIs  after a good test match.

Regarding picking new players to fill slots or creating backups .....   Pick poor players to start with ...  drop them after 2 or 3 games ...  rinse and repeat.

Everyone responsible for selecting the squads and the playing 11 are responsible.
