Bhuvneshwar Kumar shouldn’t be in the playing XI for the first Test: Ashish Nehra

Damien Fleming was all praise for Bhuvneshwar Kumar, whom he compared to England great James Anderson.

“I love watching Bhuvi Kumar because, probably with James Anderson, they are the best swing bowlers in the world. He actually has the skills where he can bowl outswingers and inswingers to right and left-handed batsmen. “When he (Bhuvi) first started, he lacked a yard or two in Test cricket, but he has increased his pace a little bit in the past two years,” Fleming said.

What a joke this useless trundler is compared with one of the greats. Anderson might not be All time great but he is one of the greats of this generation and bhubi kumar is getting compared with him.

Spot on. You need strong bowlers to make something happen with Kookaburra. Umesh must start. Ishant is another guy. Even SHami's effectiveness is doubtful.

Shammi, Ishant, bumrah and Kuldeep Should be INDIA's attack in the first Test.

Why- BCOS Shammi and Bumrah will attack, Ishant will be economical most of the time in tests and he has good stamina too( for long spells) Kuldeep has improved and if he is not able to turn the ball at all only then ASHWIN should be played otherwise Kuldeep should be played as if Kuldeep turns even a little, he is also not easily readable.

kuldeep ahead of Jaddu and Ashwin...if we play Ashwin, we will go a little defensive.

They should stop wrapping him in cottonwool .Give him A games and prove he is 100 % fit. If fitness issue has to happen,it should happen when there is still time to get replacement..

Same with shami.

You sound like you are trying to say he is unfit her doing bad. A fully fit  bhuvi will still be garbage in Australia and in most places. Bhuvi is a limited bowler. He was punching above his weight in recent times but even that was just good or very good at times but nothing exceptional or extraordinary. Overall he is a very mediocre test and ODI bowler. I think, he can be a bit useful in T20s though if he can bowl as good in death consistently as he does in IPL.

would have liked someone like Saini or Rajpoot with Bumrah and Ishant. Shami is same as Umesh, will spray around.

Why worry about that? Shami  has a 50.6 SR in Australia. That is dangerous wicket-taking ability. As long as Bumrah and Ishant keep it tight, Shami will be a net positive I think.

Umesh is more inconsistent there and should probably be the 4th pacer, but there is an interesting split with him: Sydney vs Rest of Australia

Sydney: What a performance over 2 test matches :hysterical:

Rest of Australia: He is still expensive, but that 45.6 SR is deadly.

No one who looks at his test stats would clajm he is just very good and nothing extraordinary. Heck his entire career bowling average is better than any indian test bowler in history.

Now imagine if a batsmans test form was being judged on his odi form. The same guys would be laughing out loud

BK's test bowling stats are as relevant as Mahela Jaywardene's batting stats in SSC. :giggle:

If he bowls 135k+, he'll be a handful even in Australia. The same experts here said Bumrah won't be successful in England :giggle:. Main concern is about Bhuvi's fitness and hence if he can bowl that speednow.

Bhuvi should be playing as the 5th bowler/all rounder and should compete for Jadeja for the all rounder's slot. Main attack IMO should be Bumrah, Ishant, Shami and Ashwin

Pant at 6, Ashwin at 7, Jadeja/Bhuvi at 8 followed by the 3 bowlers is a better combo than Bhuvi as one of the 4 bowlers and Rohit as the 6th batsman. Only thing this will mean is no place for Vihari in the top 6 which he so richly deserves.

Big Bhuvi fan, but he hasn’t been anything great in LOi. Also another thing is that the other guys who have been given chances, haven’t been that impressive. Khaleel has been close to ok, nothing special. In that regard, you got to stick with Bhuvi as one of the seamers when playing 3 bowlers.

Playing two youngsters with Bumrah with one od them as Khaleel will put more pressure on Bumrah to perform and that will screw Bumrah’s bowling too. Hence Bhuvi and Bumrah ought to play until we get better bowler. Khaleel sits out to make way for another youngster when a new guy needs to be givena chance. He has had decent amount of chances now.
