GautiMaan Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 You can see there is a solidity about Vihari and one can feel he is one innings away from hitting his stride. However this team management caters to the interests of a few people and in all likelihood we will see Rohit Sharma back in the team, despite the fact that Vihari also bowls handy offspin Virat must ask himself if he would have ever made it as a player,if his captain treated him this way. sandsaims, Real McCoy, UrmiSinhaRay and 2 others 1 4
tweaker Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 2 of Virat favourites are back from injury.Vihari will be dropped for them. Or Vihari will be made to open the inning, which Rohit should be made to do UrmiSinhaRay 1
Trichromatic Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Kohli would have been dropped after 2014 Eng series if he had similar captain. beetle, UrmiSinhaRay, Lannister and 3 others 1 1 4

R!TTER Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 (edited) I wouldn't mind Vihari opening the innings if Sharmaji is dropped from the side, permanently! But one of the openers must also go, we can't play both of them in the hope that one will succeed eventually. And if Ashwin/Jadeja is not playing then we need the extra batting from Kumar, with Kuldeep as the lead spinner. But regardless of circumstances or (non existent) injuries I fully expect the TM to * up the team selection yet again. Kohli should just resign as the captain, he's useless beyond hopeless as far as I'm concerned. Edited December 23, 2018 by R!TTER Forever Indian and UrmiSinhaRay 1 1
Nikola Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 First step should be dropping both opener then decide between Partiv/Vihari/Rohit who to open with Mayank. Lannister, Ridgepi, UrmiSinhaRay and 1 other 2 1 1

What is Rohit gonna achieve as opener that he hasn't at #6 ? Don't understand this fascination with Parthiv either. Vihari at least shows some confidence at the crease while facing tough conditions and bowling so early in his career. I hope he plays at some position, 2 or 6 for the next 2 tests. Suhaan Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 Vihari gives you offspin, while rohit is a dud in test format which had been proved way before, Vihari if backed can turn into a decent test bat which can serve us well in times to come UrmiSinhaRay, BrantFUGH and Lannister 2 1

jusarrived Posted December 23, 2018 Posted December 23, 2018 I don't think vihari is a long term option, he's good no doubt and deserves his chances and will be happy if he proves me wrong. To make him open is worse than dropping him though, if they do either of that am done with this team, been giving Virat a benefit of doubt but if another players career is ruined I don't have it in me to support him nomatter how great a batsmen he is.
