I just dont know why we feel that every decision taken has to do with some kind of politics.

When Shaw was out, most of the people/experts were of the view to open with Vihari as he had good defensive technique.

Not everything is to do with politics.

Dont just hate on Kohli.

Dude ... "Parody" thread... As mentioned in the tag..

Not everything is agenda . ..

And yes, hanuma is terrible against the short ball in whatever little we saw so far.

MSK Prasad said he's not a long term opening solution. I just hope he gets back his #6 position when we have Shaw in as opener. Having said that, he needs to work on that short ball weakness.

u really think he ll get back his 6th position now that rohit has scored runs, rohit got that position ahead of him without scoring runs in 1st test what chance does he stand now

According to the actions of the  TM so far , that #6 position is anyways likely going to be a rotating one depending on conditions. pace allrounder or a batsman who can bowl a bit, or spin allrounder.

Get me a box of tissues for project Vihari on ICF

2 choices

a.  Worry about Vihari career

b.  Focus on winning the test and match for India

For me b. all day.  Rohit fired at 6 so call fully justified.  Vihari to certain extent blunted ball in 1st innings so the call worked and help set up match winning total

ps Vihari massive queation marks now for gis suitabilty for international cricket.  Cant play short ball then in serious trouble.  No matter were he bats now will get bombed, cane he cope?

Bravo..why didn't Rohit open instead of Vihari? Coz even Kohli knows that he won't last even 10 balls. Questioning a rookie on one hand but ok with playing a tried and tested failure in tests. Even Jaddu will score a 50 once in 10 innings.

Correct he did not open with Rohit as he would have lasted no more then 10 balls as cant play swing to save his life.  Walking wicket if opens.  Vihari much better equipped to face moving ball (not short ball though).  Vihari lasted lots of balls blunting the new ball so did a job of sorts.

So tactically was right thing to do and worked .  Yet you not happy that helping India win this move.  Sadly and many are same, you would want Rohit to open, flop, we struggle, lose game and you can then say how bad rohit was and feel happy.  I would rather we win on other hand thank you very much

Absolutkey and fair enough.  Pick team which gives best chance to win.

@Vilander thank you for the punidhamaana anbu following(aka stalking) me intently. Vaazhthukkal.

Yes, VK is a serious loser as a captain, should be sacked from captaincy even though he is our best bat.

You know India doing well when she is down to one post a day and the post is pure misery.  Happy days for indian fans

Imagine conditions demand that you drop a batsman next match.Who do you think will get dropped..rest assured it will be Vihari and Rohit will be preferred

If you can't see the issue with that, you are as blind as any Thala fan ever was

Everyone wants India to win..get off your high horse..as if only you want an Indian win and others rejoice in us losing.. :giggle:

Kohli did good things with India..like introducing Bumrah, going for wins in tests instead of lame defensive tactics like Dhoni, but he's also doing a lot of rubbish, for instance playing Rohit over Vihari. Vihari may fail, but at least give him a fair chance...he seems capable, has toiled hard in the domestics instead of giving chances to Rohit who did crap after playing 25 test matches. God knows when he last played a first class game even.

Even virat had problems with the short ball in his debut series vs the all mighty west indies team. He worked on it and look at him now one of the best player of pull shot around the world and by no means this is west indies class bowlers and this pitch is playing all kinds of tricks now so its not easy...give respect where its due he is batting in Australia at not his usual position and dont talk about that hack sharma. Doesnt looks like handling even the straighter ball forget about bounce absolute useless of a block .

Surprised this is not a quality  pace attack. IT IS .

BTW who were those mighty WI pacers  Virat had to face ?

I dont think Rohit should have been in test side.

But one cant deny he batted very well and SCORED RUNS.   Will you admit he batted well and picking him on purely winning this match worked as he delivered?

Vihari you can talk about fair chance etc Yes nice to be fair. But WINNING is more important.  You acting like Vihari was not picked.  I REPEAT HE BATS 3 in FIRST CLASS CRICKET.  So asking him to open is hardly out of order.

Also for next test.  Forget fair and not fair.  Lets look at winning test selction.  Does not Vihari v aussie short ball not worry you, are you not filled with dread he might get bombed and be exposed.  Its well known that weakness v short ball.  Not concerned?  Rather be fair then win historic test series?

ps both Rohit and Vihari will play.  Unchanged team

We cannot be pampering cricketers at an international level. Likes of Sehwag made a career out of the opportunity to open. The issue here is that Vihari needs to work on a lot of things .... If you are doing well, you can command a position. If you are not doing well or are new, you could be moved around even to accomodate more established player

We have only two established batsmen - Pujara and Kohli, who can play at their respective positions. Others can be moved around. At ICF, I have read posts where they want these established, in form and settled in their position players to be moved around to accommodate others

I would have preferred Rahane, who is also a top order batsmen, to open. The guy is just swinging his bat to get out of trouble and usually fails when we lose early wkts. Ideally, he should have put his hand up
