Do u think he will play a Poor Man's Bhuvi( read Gurbani)..he is not playing BHuvi even for one test, he is playing an off colour Umesh ahead of Bhuvi.

True... But we should also be open to the horses for courses approach based on conditions. We keep seeing dibbly dobbly guys picking wickets regularly in England and new Zealand. Sam curran /  Grandehomme kind of bowlers.. if Gubani can do it on Indian pitches he should do reasonably in new Zealand especially on day 1,2,3.. by the time the pitches become flat on day 4,5.. we can rely on our premier fast bowlers s to do the job.

And why wouldn't a quicker bowler with as much or more skill not be able to pick up wickets on those same pitches? That's some insane logic.

Big swing at fast pace is a rare thing right. At the moment , we don't have Pacers who are all at the level of Bumrah. 

Likes of avesh, Aniket, nagarkotti, Mavi may do well in future but till then there is no harm in utilising Gubani kind of bowlers. He was pretty impressive during last year's Ranji knockouts.

The harm is that it takes away match practice from the likes of Avesh etc. Plus why would they not do as well or better than Gubani? If it is swing, then Gubani is far inferior to BK, who even bowls quicker than Gubani. So it's a waste of time and personnel development when someone is not part of your long term plans. Wouldn't you rather invest the time and resource in developing the next Bumrah than someone who does not have the ability to ever be part of your permanent set up?

Well.. we didn't have any backup when Bhuvi got injured in England. We continued to play with Ishant irrespective of the pitches there.  The general feeling was that we missed Bhuvi quite a bit. Long term or not,  pitches do help the bowlers like Bhuvi, Anderson, Philander etc so we must be prepared.

BK during pre-injury has been the best of our swing bowlers. both sandeep sharma and kubani ke meetha (Gurbani) are good swing bowlers, but they get about the same (or less) amount of swing at a lower pace. we need to look to developing siraj, rajpoot, saini, aniket (and maybe tanvir-ul-haq) among relatively experienced domestic pros and further nurture avesh, khaleel, mavi, nagarkoti and rasikh - all of whom are more raw, but arguably with more potential. I am not too concerned about our fast bowling depth, provided that it is managed well - this is a big "if" since our management has been iffy.

For LOIs :- Rajpoot,Avesh,Mavi/Nagarkoti.

I don't find Siraj anything special so he'll never be my pick.
