Forever Indian Posted January 25, 2019 Posted January 25, 2019 He will get his chances after WC. He can be good in ODIs, but that's about it. Doesn't have the technique for longer format and is not consistent in T20s from what I have seen. UrmiSinhaRay and GoldenSun 1 1

He is our ideal number 4, instead of wasting time with Rayudu, Karthik etc. If ge takes his leg spin a bit seriously he will get in. UrmiSinhaRay and Switchblade 1 1

TNAmarkFromIndia Posted February 21, 2019 Posted February 21, 2019 Mumbai smashed the third-highest T20 score in India, and the seventh highest in all T20 cricket, after they finished at 258 for 4 against Sikkim in Indore. On the way, Shreyas Iyer's 55-ball 147 also broke Rishabh Pant's 128* as the highest T20 score by an Indian. Iyer struck 15 sixes and seven fours in his innings, including a 35-run over off Sikkim medium-pacer Tashi Bhalla. He was assisted by Suryakumar Yadav's 33-ball 63. Incidentally, Iyer's 15 sixes also saw him take the record among Indian batsmen for most sixes in a T20 innings from M Vijay (11). Iyer is now perched tied-fourth with Chris Gayle on the overall list.

He's obviously not going to get into the World Cup scheme of things, but a good IPL and he'll certainly be in the reckoning after the World Cup.

After WC is for sure, we will a lot of spots that will probably be open by the 2023 WC Dhoni, Dhawan, Rohit, Jadahv, DK will all be either retired or slightly on the older side by the next one. Pant, Iyer, Shaw, Gill will put immense pressure on them for slots

Vijy Posted August 15, 2019 Posted August 15, 2019 pant/kishan, rohit/mayank/shaw/gaekwad/KLR, kohli at 3, gill at 4, iyer at 5, hardik at 6, AR at 7, jaddu/gopal at 8 is the way to go.unearthing that AR at 7 is crucial. need a batsman who bowls some spin. no real contenders around. best options among the available ones are rana, sundar, krunal, hooda, abhishek sharma, lomror. no pant in middle order for me - he is better off giving us explosive starts like gilly at opening.

Combined with his ability to rotate strike should have been an automatic choice even in the World Cup and no this is not hindsight,a lot of us were saying he should have got chances ahead of Rayudu/Dk etc
