sandeep Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Let's play a game of statistics and see how knowledgeable ICFers are. I will post the ODI cumulative statistics of 2 batsmen, let's see how long it takes for them to be recognized. Hint # 1 - Both are active players currently playing for their national team. Hint # 2 - They do not play for the same team. velu 1

sandeep Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Here are their numbers filtered for AWAY games.
sandeep Posted January 28, 2019 Author Posted January 28, 2019 Well that didn't take too long at all. Oh well.

Nikola Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Having watched both i think we can't compare both by stats. Babar even though he is from pakistan he looks much better player when he is playing. Did decent in test series too from what ever little i saw of him.

Both are too slow for modern day ODIs. sandeep, Laaloo and Mosher 3

Babar got to fill his boots against lowly teams. Plus he gets to bat at #3 and gets to stat-pad that way, while Rayudu has played a lot of innings where he comes in only to mop-up and score 30 odd runs with required run rate well below par. Put it this way - Rayudu is as good as, if not better, than Babar Azam. If Babar Azam was Bablu Agnihotri, he would never even come close to India 'A' team, let alone the national team. Thank you, you've been a lovely audience.

Stats are deceiving. Babar is comfortably ahead, run scoring in UAE at fast pace is a challenge because of the sluggishness of the pitches and slow outfield, polar opposite of India. Compared to Rayudu, Babar is much better against the quicks and almost at par against spin. One plays for a strong batting line up, the other in a weak line up. Clincher is the age and development, Babar is on an upward trajectory and is getting better, the Indian is already close to retirement age and is unlikely to improve further.
Gollum Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 (edited) Babar will walk into any team in world cricket except perhaps England on certain decks. Atm he is what I hoped KLR the ODI batsman would develop into. Edited January 28, 2019 by Gollum putrevus, SecondSlip and sergio04 3
putrevus Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 Babar is way ahead and it is not even close. KL Rahul should have comparable stats with him but it is not the case.
Austin 3:!6 Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 I knew its a Indo - Pak player comparison considering OP's love for parosis
Number Posted January 28, 2019 Posted January 28, 2019 You only have to see how Azam played Steyn and Rabada in the test series. Better than anyone from SC except Kohli.
