130 k to 136 k range.    Not even high 130s.

Looks like he has regressed and has turned into a trundler. He used to have a sharp bouncer but he kept bowling length balls wide of offstump and got smashed.

I am loving saini ,we should have picked him in the wc squad , sa is carrying nortje as an inexperienced 4th pacer ,pak has picked hasnain.

Cant believe he had to struggle to get into a ranji team.

Virat has taken the safer route of experienced players

he is probably coming back from an injury.  Last time, i saw him, he was hitting 140s.  He also missed SMA trophy due to injury, I guess.

I hope Jadeja gets niggled out and Saini replaces him in the WC squad.

Facing a 150 k+ and accurate pacer, like Saini, won't be easy for our opposition batters in England.

The selectors and TM have missed a trick here.

It is almost lìke ... they took many decisions regarding fringe players by looking at games being played on the slow pitches in India ... although the WC would be played on faster pitches in England with more seam movement on some grounds at least.

Saini combines express pace with decent accuracy  ... and that combo is not so easy to get.

Saini  150.8 kph

3rd ball above 150 k this over

His only over today

152 ... 4

135 ... 6

153 ... low full toss,  difficult catch  dropped

151 ...good length off stump hurries batter ... 1

Slower ... dot ball

147 ... extra bounce, flew to the keeper ... dot ball

Where can I rewatch this over. I missed the match thinking that it is going to be a washout.

I am not that impressed with his yorker, misses his mark more often than not with it,needs to work on it if he has to bowl in the death.

True.

But in England, as the 3rd pacer, Saini need not have to bowl at the death.  But can be very effective in the first 43 overs or so.

Yes ... that ball looked very quick and hurried the batsman.  That shot was mistimed but still went for a 6.

The short balls are often registering lower speeds.

I think till now selectors were looking at him as a test bowler, so, he was working on that aspect.  he was not played any one day matches for India A too.  Most One day matches were played by Chahar, Kaul, Thakur, etc. I am sure he will work on his yorkers as he is now in scheme of things for LOIs.

Not being able to bowl in the death is a big no no for me .He must develop his death bowling.

Yes, he must.

But as of today, Saini,  even without good yorkers,   will add more value to the WC squad than Jadeja.

He has played List A matches for India A in the series vs NZ.

Not every bowler in this age is a good death bowler,as batsmen are now extremely fearless ,they have well adapted to this phase of a match,it takes intl and A tour experience for bowlers to develop this art,had Sain been given opportunity even early this year he could have made huge impact, its not like he hasn't landed any delivery at block hole this ipl,but its a format where one slight error and you find yourself deposited between the crowds,he could have a learnt a lot had h played few intls atleast more than the likes of Umesh,Kaul ,Thakur etc

Selectors have seen something in him that is why he is been among the stand bys, offcourse  he has to learn a lot

Much to our agony,i dont see dhoni's special massage boy getting niggled out as he seems extremely fit and agile, unfortunately

I think they have gambled here.. they are thinking that India will definitely be in top 4 with this squad and by then the pitches will probably slow down like in CT13... Selecting Karthik too was from this view point I think
