I still remember (2003 final match), Ponting was not given out of srinath which was plumb LBW. (It was of a slow ball). He went to make big hundred and post huge total. If not for that, things would have been different.

 

Cricket is sometimes about luck and rub of the green was on indian side so far.

 

Australia shouldn't have won against WI few days back. Controversial no-ball was not called and Gayle shouldn't have been out.

Sure, luck played a part with dropped catches, injuries to opposing players and the toss but the team has executed well. Bowlers stepped up big time against SA and batsmen provided a winnable platform for the bowlers against Australia. The team has checkmated two very difficult opponents on the trot, a commendable accomplishment. With a typical slow start, we may have been 0-2 down, frantically thinking permutations and combinations for a path to the semifinal and cursing our bad luck by now. The only concern is that we don't look capable of pulling off a great escape win like the Aussies against WI if our top order collapses.

Had Carey taken Pandya’s catch yesterday we would have been 30 odd runs that’s pretty much the end result  How lucky is Pandya for having to be dropped on 0

We need the luck in knock outs. 2013 CT was the last big tournament India won. Since then, India lost 2014 World T20 final, 2016 World T20 Semi Final, World Cup 2015 WC Semi Final, 2017 CT Final. That's why I'm not raising my hopes too high as a result of watching all these losses in recent years. The annoying part is India has been super consistent in league stages only to fail to deliver the knock out punch time and again.

Tendulkar dropped 4 times against Pakistan at Mohali, may be we would have lost but for those drops?  And we would not have own 2011 world cup. Tendulkar was dropped on his way to 98 at centurion in 2003 world cup. lol.

I am supporting your statement. You wrote that it was a brilliant knock suggesting that he was in good form on that day .... even a Rohit added 174 more runs in 2 innings after getting "multiple" chances across the two knocks

Multiple chances is not a caveat. Because if the team is so incompetent to take basic chances that puts innings of other batsmen who failed against the same incompetent team into perspective.

Exactly! And if those chances had gone to a Dhawan or a Kohli, who instead got out to good delivery and good catch respectively, we could have seen even better knocks .... or who knows Pandya could have come in earlier to entertain us even more

Those were very very tough chances. Not even 50/50 chance. He is so seriously butt hurt after 2 magical knocks lol Only real chance came after he made 100. Dhoni's drop was another each chance. Third easy drop in 2 matches was Pandya first ball. REgulation catch. Rahul scored 11 runs in 3 balls. Imagine him facing 25 balls like Pandya score would have been 88 runs.

Lucky in terms of winning the toss against Australia . I don't think we could have chased on this wicket if Australia had batted first.
