Drop one of Jadhav/Shankar and play Pant/DK to offer more variety to the one-dimensional middle order had enough of Shankar. He sucked balls today and when it was time to make quick got out to a poor shot. Rahul go out to a poor shot too. Dhoni pressured Kohli to get out. Jadhav just struggled, but was atleast instrumental in taking pressure and making sure India did not get bowled out for under 200. Shankar needs to go, Pant or DK can come in. Mosher 1

asterix Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 (edited) I’m sorry but Shankar can be in the team... We need to groom allrounders. It’s a mistake that Shankar was sent ahead of HaPa. HaPa should always bat ahead of Shankar... There came a moment when HaPa was sitting on the balcony and we were in the last PP. Fortunately for us, and due to AFG stupidity, Thala got out... It was too late for HaPa to do anything... the stink Thala and KeJo had created was difficult to sort out, especially when KeJo taking it deep by playing maiden 47th over... Yoda-esque Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Dhoni is the one that should be dropped. He reminds me of a BBC that has gone limp. DHONI_FANN 1

Also, can VS open?

Get out of here... Not trying to justify anything - **** happens, they had a bad day. Not for a lack of trying. Momentum is a thing. Yuvraj had that over in that WT20 final. It happens to the best of players.

diehardpacer Posted June 23, 2019 Posted June 23, 2019 Shankar & Jadhav are such great all rounders, whom the team is scared to bowl even 1 over in a tight game .They know there is a high chance they will go for 15-20 runs in that 1 over itself. Have a feeling the team will remain unchanged after this win. zen, GautiMaan and ViruDilSeKhelo 3

If Shankar isn't trusted to bowl, then he gets edged out by Jadhav and Pant. I like him but agree that Rishabh is an upgrade with the bat.
ViruDilSeKhelo Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 (edited) The biggest joke (on us) is the selection of club cricketer Shankar. This man has barely scored a few half centuries at domestic level and tricked the selectors into becoming a NUMBER 4 in ODI and in a team like India!!! He doesn't even have an international 50, I don't care he was on 40 and got run out once. Facts are facts. Normally this position is for people with success and an appetite for big runs. I would even currently take Rahane, Rayadu, Raina, Pandey over this chewtiya at 4. Some of them may be FTB but at least know how to make a 100. Jaddu can score more than him and can bowl 10 tight overs unlike him. We need power at the top too with Dhawan gone and solidity at 4. Pant should open and be told to bat at least 15 overs at okay SR, that's his job which he can do and a lefty. Anything more is a bonus. Rahul and Rohit are two slow starters. Rahul was doing well at 4, leave him there. My XI from now on: Pant, Rohit, Kohli, Rahul, Dhoni, Kedar, Pandya, BK/Shami, Kuldeep, Chahal, Bumrah Edited June 24, 2019 by ViruDilSeKhelo
GautiMaan Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 First thing that needs to be fixed is the team combination,What is the need for a 7th bowling option that weakens the batting.Shankar can be there as backup to Jadhav or Pandya, but as the thread suggests it is idiotic to play both especially when you have an explosive left hander in Pant. Second is the approach to batting and this can be solely attributed to Dhoni, the guy can do his tuk tuking in a chase but to follow the same method when batting first is madness. There is no reason a Shami or Bhuvi cannot play a cameo in the dots this guy eats up after the 40th over(lets not even mention Hardik not getting enough time),even Bangladesh is doing better than us in this regard.
Kerberos Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 No point playing Vijay Shankar over Rishabh Pant if the former isn't going to roll his arms over. Confused management.

Nash Posted June 24, 2019 Posted June 24, 2019 Why Vijay was given the responsibility to play for no4? Anybody here could please explain me. I dont buy that 3 dimension player hox.
