Tendulkar1996 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 I had already said that without dhawan we had little chance in the cup.Now its clear rahul is not fluent and is simply not in dhawan's league. The big problem is shankar, dhoni, jadhav are all one dimensional players unable to properly rotate strike and frustrate kohli. We will never survive with this middle order. Another issue is 1-7 are all right handers. We need pant in place of shankar or jadhav immediately. Hopefully the dumb team management understands this. Atrocious batting by dhoni and jadhav today.Rahul and shankar before that were bad,but not this bad diehardpacer and vishalvirsingh 2
sandeep Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 (edited) Big problem is folks lack the ability to separate their expectations from actual reality. This is not a 400 track or 320 even. The ball isn't coming on to the bat. Jadhav has ABDV level stats batting in the last 10 overs of ODIs. But why let silly things like facts get in the way of your pre-conceived notions? Quote Rahul and shankar before that were bad,but not this bad That's because this pair had the responsibility to ensure that a collapse for 220 odd is prevented. Rahul and Shankar could bat with the knowledge that 3 batsmen were still to come. These guys don't have that luxury. Edited June 22, 2019 by sandeep cowboysfan, tweaker, velu and 4 others 6 1
Yoda-esque Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 IMO we should play Dhoni/Krtik, Pant and Shankar Open with Shankar,Rahul too slow up front ravishingravi 1

It was not a land mine of a pitch by any means, a bit slow perhaps but nothing alarming. asterix, express bowling and zen 3
Gollum Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 So now DK is the messiah, or is it Pant? Always the people on the bench are our best players, always right? tweaker and AK007 2

It was probably damp in the morning but got better in the second innings with sun out. AK007 and sandeep 2

There was nothing wrong with the track as Afghan batsman showed

zen Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 I would go with this assuming everyone is fit: KL Rohit Kohli Dhoni Pandya Pant Jadeja/Bhuvi Kuldeep Shami Chahal Bumrah * batting order can be flexible * strengthening the bowling further as that is what Ind banks on atm diehardpacer 1
prasen82 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 (edited) The pitch was tricky.. but dhoni, jadhav and Shankar are similar style players unable to really rotate. I think the biggest problem I saw was kohli not getting strike, getting frustrated and throwing away his wicket.. If both jadhav and Vijay Shankar do not bowl, I would have either pant/DK as insurance instead of one of them . We can't have both jadhav and Vijay Shankar. We got lucky that the frailties got exposed today. Edited June 22, 2019 by prasen82 AK007 1
putrevus Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Why do people make Dhoni as some Bradman. He has one innings of note in four world cups. This guy has stunk in world cups.I would drop Dhoni and give Pant a chance in game and in another one drop Jadhav. asterix and Yoda-esque 1 1

Pant is not a reliable WK. Drops catches. Plus Missed stumpings.

Suhaan Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Dhoni will stay, make peace with that Jadhav and Shankar can't play together, they are harmless to opponents We play cautiously till 35th over,if Jadhav is not bowling and i dont find him accelerating against better opponents then its better to play DK/Pant pitches will get slower from now on,we have to bat well to get atleast 260-270 on such surfaces diehardpacer 1
sergio04 Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 After retirement of dhoni team will improve just like test team
bowl_out Posted June 22, 2019 Posted June 22, 2019 Almost unanimous opinions here. Drop one of Jadhav/Shankar and play Pant/DK to offer more variety to the one-dimensional middle order AK007, asterix, Mosher and 1 other 4
