The logic behind giving 37th over to Munro

Santner was troubling Babar and Haris.

 

Why would a captain bring dibbly dobly part timer into the attack at this point.

 

Possible reasons

 

a) The ball was turning

- But Munro is not a spinner he bowled Right arm medium

 

b) 5th bowler quota

- There were already 11 overs bowled by CDG, Neesham and Williamson combined

 

Munro conceded 8 and gave much needed momentum to Pakistan.

Williamson himself bowled 8 or 9 overs for no reason. He had many overs left of henry or ferguson back then but still kept bowling and gave easy runs to pak.

Yes, and after Munro, Williamson bowled another over before the main bowlers, by that time, the pressure had eased off. Was the match fixed or what?

Stupid captaincy from Williamson. The required run rate was up and climbing, six main bowlers had plenty of overs left, still, you went for non regular bowlers from both ends.

Not picking Sodhi was also a big mistake from New Zealand Captain

it's because willy-boy is an intelligent and thoughtful captain on the whole, but he does not have the all-out attacking mindset of Baz. In some situations, being cautious and pragmatic is good, whereas in others it can backfire. I enjoyed baz's captaincy more than willy's, although some could argue that the latter is better than the former.

but hafeez was a batting allrounder for pak over the span of more than 1 decade. munro is even more of a part-timer for NZ (in terms of wkts/match) than willy. I think it was more of a temporary brainfade on willy's part.

yes, I agree this thread would not exist. but it was still a bad move with low probability of success, since munro is an all-rounder only at domestic level; in int'l matches he is pretty much treated as a specialist slogger and very rarely bowls. it's like kohli coming on to bowl, but only slightly better.
