How many of in those 46 he has crossed 20 or his batting was really needed and any other batsmen couldn't have done it.

ShoonyaSifar Posted July 1, 2019 Posted July 1, 2019 Last 5 times when Dhoni hit a 50 and remained not out (Data from last 6 years) 2015 WC match vs Zim (A), Chasing 288, Raina 110*, Dhoni 85* 2017 3rd ODI vs SL (A), chasing 218, Rohit 124*, Dhoni 67* 2019 2nd ODI vs Aus (A), chasing 298, Dhoni 55*, DK 25*(14), Kohli 104 2019 3rd ODI vs Aus (A), chasing 230, Dhoni 87*, Kedar 57* 2019 4th ODI vs Aus (A), chasing 237, Dhoni 59*, Kedar 87* As you can see, he depends on a specialist batsman at the other end to do the heavy lifting, on his own he's unable to do much. Look at how he does in some other 275+ chases 2017 4th ODI vs Aus (H), chasing 334, Dhoni 13(10, we lost, despite needing 109 runs in 78 balls with 6 wkts left, we lost 2018 2nd ODI vs Eng (A), chasing 322, Dhoni 37(59), top order failed, we lost 2018 3rd ODI vs WI (H), chasing 283, Dhoni 7(11), Kohli 107(119), we lost 2019 1st ODI vs Aus (A) chasing 289, Dhoni 51(96) despite Rohit hitting 133, we lost 2019 3rd ODI vs Aus (H) chasing 314, Dhoni 26(42) despite Kohli hitting 123(95), we lost Nikola, rahulrulezz, Vijy and 1 other 3 1

If he was playing for a weaker team, his record in chases would have been more ordinary.
