Let's now focus on other reason for defeat. Slow start by Rohit and Kohli. Look it's not about runs scored. When the runs are scored also matter. When you are 28

from first 10 overs chasing 338 you know you have to bat at very high strike rate for 30 odd overs which is far too much to sustain without getting out especially if you are going for shots. I see some argument about being on par with England at some point. But that was more due to Pandya and Pant playing positively. Look at Rohit and Kohli's SR. They didn't repair any damn thing keeping in mind the required run rate.  So in my view, Rohit and Kohli were 50% culprit for our failure to chase. It's one thing to be cautious and other to be over cautious. If Dhoni and Jadhav didn't show any intent so didn't Kohli and Rohit.

Both Virat and Rohit got out at the wrong time. One of the two had to play till the end as it was not that easy to come and hit straight away. More disappointed with Virat but hopefully he is saving his best for the business end

When Kohli thrown his wicket. That was the time when Rohit was opening up and just thrashed wood for hattrick boudaries. Kohli should have stayed there and rotated the strike and should have allowed Rohit to transfer into his beast mode. When Kohli got out I know India will lose.

Yes, both of them ate up too many overs. Playing like they did is okay for a 280-290 type of total. When chasing nearly 7 an over, the first 10 overs are key and scoring 70-80 runs is a must to have any chance in the match. Batting ultra slow means you will never come close to overhauling the target as the asking rate keeps climbing higher and higher.

Yes, Rohit also slowed down after kohli got out.

Kohli has a good chance to win the WC. He won’t get this chance again. Also not trust worthy as he depends on others to lead the team...

i hope he is released of captaincy duties in the near future. I want Rohit to lead the ODI team...

Kohli had the best chance to win CT17. Yet he chose the wrong team and lost it. Dont be surprised if he chooses to lose.

I won’t be surprised at all. I can see he’s going in that direction... These guys do not realise the massive backlash which awaits them...

you cannot win after being 28/1 in 10 overs. that is where india lost the game. none of them carried on after consuming so many balls. it was hard for new batsman to come in and score 10+ right away
