India A vs SA A

Look how astute the BCCI is.

Arranged ODI series in such a place where some 50 over games became T20s due to rain.

Two birds with one stone.  Practice for both ODIs and T20s without the extra effort of scheduling both.

Plus young players practicing patience and controlling anger while waiting for the rain to stop.

This is what I call planning.

This year has been unusually wet. BCCI is organizing these matches in Bangalore for last 2-3 years because Bangalore is a rain shadow area. Even Kerala gets more rains in June and July and not in August and September.

Samson averages 26 in List A cricket, people suddenly clamoring for his inclusion based on just one innings.

Its not  just one fluke innings . Had done that several times at different levels .

Potential and talent very obvious . But no consistency .

One need to back such cases and not some domestic  FT bully .

The "potential" could be seen for the past 6 years. That isn't a short amount of time to start producing some results. Even Rohit Sharma scored big runs in domestic even if not in internationals till 2013.

Samson isn't consistent at any level. Be it first-class, List A or even IPL. We don't need someone who produces one good innings after 30 games. He needs to work on his consistency before we can say he deserves a place in the Indian team.

Rishab Pant averages 28 in List A and Samson averages 27. Sometimes it's not just about numbers.

All three Pant, Samson and Kishan are great talents and need to be backed.. The biggest problem with Samson is consistency, probably even apparent lack of motivation, which is a bigger issue than numbers. Of the three, I feel Kishan is most suited for ODIs and needs to get a break into the Intl squad some time soon

kishan has mostly opened for his ranji team, which has helped boost his numbers. but I do agree that he seems to have more game awareness for ODIs as of now.

That's why said need backing . Does not mean he should be considered for national team now. But give him a fixed batting # in A team in short formats and play him without break at least 3-4 series.  Selectors have not done that recently .

Same with Warrier  too. Atleast of late he is being recognized .

There are other factors too which contributed in inconsistency - injuries, temperament of the guy with controversies  etc.
