Windies seems to be Kohli's boogie "country". Nonsense. Kohli never really had it to be the best test bat in the first place. Smith more than deserved it. His average is a whopping 10+ ahead of his peers. bahubali 1 Link to comment

Even when australia came to india, smith comfortably overtook him in india with 3 100's to his name against our spinners in our den. You can forget kohli coming back to the #1 spot for now. nevada
Smith's numbers are head and shoulders above the rest of the pack but his numbers for runs scored in a crisis are mind boggling. He has played the rescue act with such regularity that it almost seems repetitive and boring now. bahubali 1 Link to comment

On forgetting about Kohli coming back to number 1, let's wait before making such grand pronouncements. Also, it does help when you are not up against the best bowler in the opposition. vijaydude 1 Link to comment

Let;s just count 2018 alone. Where kohli played 12 tests (3 in SA, 5 in england and 4 in Australia). It's not like he really set the series on fire with his knocks. SA series wasn't really much to write about except for the 1 hundred. Pujara outscored him in Australia. Even most of the runs he scored in england came after dropped chances. Compare that to Smith's performances in england when he was MOTM in 2 wins in 2015 and another one now in 2019. Edited September 4, 2019 by Stan AF bahubali and Real McCoy 2 Link to comment
Stan AF
I can't believe I have to type all this. Smith is really in a league right now next only to Don Bradman, IMO. putrevus, Real McCoy and bahubali 3 Link to comment

Real McCoy
About time. Smith has shown more tenacity under pressure than rat. Smith apart from the faux pas he did last year has always been ahead of rat. Was also a better captain than rat and doesn't have that much ego issues like rat has Stan AF and bahubali 2 Link to comment

putrevus
This guy is second best test batsmen after Bradman, no one is close, I have not seen Sobers but I don't think he was better than this guy.Kohli is not in same ball park as him in tests. 64 plus average is mind boggling, this guy does not fail in any conditions.Kohli has lot of weaknesses, stop comparing this guy with Kohli, it is not even a contest. nevada and Stan AF 2 Link to comment
Stan AF
Goddammit Steve. You're the king in test batting now. Pretenders move aside. bahubali 2 Link to comment

Turning_track
Smith's average is 64 in 67 tests while Kohli has the average of 53 in 79 tests. That gap is just massive. Almost like what Sir Viv achieved in ODIs when he was so ahead of other top batters. Link to comment
