Prasidh is also injured I think. Did not play the Sf of Vijay Hazare Trophy and left the field after a 2 over spell in the QF.

We seem to have given up on Siraj after only 3 T20 appearances. Shardul however continues to somehow enjoy the good graces of the selectors. Some of his exploits in international cricket include

• Leaving the field injured after bowling 1.4 overs in the first session of his debut test match
• Figures of 4-0-41-0 in his last ODI against Hong Kong thereby bringing us close to the greatest humiliation in Indian cricket history
• Figures of 4-0-45-0 in his last T20 appearance against Bangladesh in the Nidahas trophy final.

I concede that stats aren't everything and maybe the TM sees something promising in him but there should be consistency in the case of other candidates also.

Shardul seems to do well under Rohit though case in point Nidihaas where he was our best bowler (Mumbai Lobby love???? @Vilander  )

Shardul ... Varies between medium pace and fast-medium and may have lost some pace after his last injury. Moreover, he is too short for a medium pacer or fast-medium pacer.

 

We are going back to the 1980s with this choice of pacers.

 

Long term plan hai. Jab genuine fast bowler budhe hoke medium fast ho jayenge, to chance denge. Aur fir bolenge, ' maine to pehle hi bola tha ye chutiye hain'! ;p

How was he our best bowler? Sundar Chahal and even Unadkat got more wickets than him

in t20 his n even kaul, bhuvi all these guys speeds are up coz they have to bowl only 4 overs

 

yup i think he ll do better in australia .....dnt forget praveen kumar, kulasekra has also done well in Aus who were slower then chahar

Aus wkts will help him more then indian wkts where he has done well

Bhuvi's speeds are faster in ODIs and tests too, he was regularly bowling in the 140s in his last ODI as well as test series's he played

yea but in his earlier years as well in t20s he bowled quicker coz in that u only have to bowl 4 overs so u can crank it up

Talking about our  “fast” bowlers in that tournament. Unadkut May have got more wickets but among the fearsome line up of Unadkut,Thakur,Shankar and Siraj, Shardul looked the most reliable. Not a huge accomplishment but he seemed to deliver in pressure situations relatively speaking.

He can't retire from international cricket according to his csk contract. Not retiring is his decision. Not picking him is selector's.
