Post 1990's who was the best seam bowling all rounder in ODI cricket ?

I think it would be an easy call when it comes to test cricket with kallis but who would it be when it comes ODI cricket ?

 

 

• Guys like Watson n Kallis had the advantage of batting up the order.
• Guys like Klusner, Razzaq, chris cairns, flintoff had to mostly bat lower down the order and do the job of power player and yet klusner ended up having 41 avg which is absolutely great 
• Irfan pathan kind of did his job fir Indian side even though he started as bowler but i felt 
• Stokes is picking up and looks to be hitting his peak ...and ofcourse his career aint over 
• Havent put botham, imran, kapil in that list as they were in their last phases .

For me, it is b/w Stokes and Klusener, along w/ Flintoff if bowling is given extra weightage. 

 

Going w/ Stokes considering his performance in WC19, batting relatively lower down which is a tough task in ODIs, and that he helped Eng to win the WC in pressure situation 

 

PS I would consider Jayasuriya as well as the 2nd AR to partner with one of the 3 above. Jayasuriya can open the batting and bowl spin. At his peak, he enjoyed success bowling at the death too.

yeah, and Jayasuriya would be my choice for the 2nd AR (spin or seam) to go with the seam bowling AR picked here .... his ability to get quick big 100s like the below + bowling a few overs can be invaluable

Well even watson won aus champions trophy final with a damn good knocks

 

 

 

There is also a bit of luck which stokes had n klusner didnt on the day

Yeah, luck can be a factor .... for me, it is hard to decide b/w Stokes and Klusener (can have them both if required) but if picking one, which is what the discussion is about, and since I have seen Stokes pull off wins in tests as well (a different format but speaks about the relative mental strength), I have gone with Stokes

My ranking:

1. Klusener

2. Cairns

3. Flintoff

4. Watson

5. Stokes...high ceiling but bowling must improve

Not many have consistent success to be named here. While there are many contenders like Kallis/flintoff/Klusener/razzaq they weren't consistent enough to be winning major trophies and be game changers in ODI cricket.

 

That being said my only choice is Ben Stokes. Watson is a distant second as his batting out shined his bowling and he is picked more in the team as a top order batsman than a seam bowling all-rounder.

Klusner batting avg 41 & sr 89

bowling avg 29

Flintoff. He is really underrated in odis imo. Average of 24 as bowler and 32 as batsman. Could play in many teams as bowler alone. Quick & had good yorker. He didn't have good odi team around him to win more matches.

2-15 in 10 overs as bowler in match where india scored 250 and he scored runs as well but couldn't win match.

Cairns was quite an AR. Could hold his own with bat or ball. I think he smashed us out of the CT final.

Klusner has also done that in test cricket. When he first came, he was an express fast bowler. He ran through India on his test debut.
