Ok. Not obvious to me atleast. 2 reasons

Dubbing kills some fun and

Southies do understand some hindi these epics use shuddh Hindi which should be more understandable.

They use shudh Tamil and overly formal conversations ..  sometimes it's difficult or annoying ( all our  epic movies did this as well )

His obsession to prove superiority over Arjun . To fulfill that obsession he could go to any length and lost his sense of right and wrong. Even after knowing Arjun as his brother this obsession did not come down .

main reason for the war was sakuni , and he did it to take revenge because  hasthinapur captured his fathers kingdom and put all his brothers and sisters in jail

Another feather in the cap for Bhishma.

nothing wrong in it ..

he knows he is doing wrong , but he decided to stick with his friend ..  people will  either agree with karna  or disagree with what he did

arjun too killed many of his half brothers and nephews right ( cant be comparable to killing brothers though )

Karnan. I myself am a Huge fan. Brought to life by the late great thespian Shivaji Ganesan on screen.

Epic movie :two_thumbs_up:, was about to mention the same, he immortalized Karnan like Mukesh Khanna did with Bhishma Pitamah. Also is there a better Krishna than NTR? Only thing that could have made it better was SV Ranga Rao as Duryodhan, no one portrays Ravan/Duryodhan better than him. Telugu industry too has filmed some mighty fine epics. Lyrics by Kannadasan (my Tamil isn't good enough to appreciate his genius) and music by his dear friend and stalwart MS Viswanathan, doesn't get better than that...lot of interesting anecdotes about those two on YT. My late maternal grandpa was a huge Sivaji fan, tried to convert me into one, didn't like most of his movies (overacting) but some like Karnan, Parasakthi, Veerapandiya Kattaboman, Pasa Malar, Paddikadha Medhai, Kappalottiya Thamizhan were truly great with outstanding performances by him.

Best will be Hindi audio with regional language subtitles. Talking about the BR Chopra version, dialogues/shlokas in Sanskritized Hindi are melodious and bhaari, I mean deep. Wish we can work on the subtitles part so that the show can be enjoyed by foreign audience, it will stand the test of time, production quality was quite good for an 80s show.

Interesting. I agree.

I also like Mahendra Kapoor's singing lines inbetween the episodes.

Bad deeds of Karna, and why he is killed in the end.

Karna in Vyas MB was much more evil than he is shown in popular TV and movie versions. In a Telugu version, played by NTR, it is shown that Draupadi secretly lusts over Karna as well.

Vyas had made it clear that despite all the good deeds in one’s life, you can’t hide from major crimes . Karna was not, as believed,  a reluctant participant in shakuni-Duryodhan conspiracies to kill Pandavas. He actively plotted varnavat/laakshagriha and wanted to burn Kunti and Pandavas. Also, he instigated Pandavas in the Draupadi vastrapaharan, which was the main reason for the war.

Not in Vyas MB. Shakuni holds grudge against Kurus and Pandavas for offering Dhritarashtra to Gandhari and not Pandu, and she became a willful blind.

He might not be the best Archer. Karna, Ashwathama might be better than him still few points about Arjuna

He had empathy and love towards his extended family therefore he got confused before war

He chose disarmed Krishna above Narayani sena when he had option showed his intelligence

There was a reason why he was the favorite student among all talented disciples of Dronacharya.

Bhisma loved him the most among all

Actually he won Draupadi by hitting bull's eye yes Karna also might but difference between he might and he did is the difference between winner and looser

He single handedly defeated whole kaurvas when he fought from the side of king Virat without help of any Pandavas.

The life of Arjuna is of devotion, intelligence, skill, empathy. The real hero, even Krishna the lord decided to be his saarthi.

Favourite - Bheeshma pitamah ,he was the best warrior of the lot ,got his training in diplomacy , yudhniti, dharm palan from the best gurus like guru brihaspati .

He chose a good cadre of men and ran the system/state well for 2-3 generations till that fool Dhritrasthra fell for putra moh.

Least favourite: Yudhistir ,nikamma number 1

To the best of my knowledge, NTR is Krishna. He really nailed it in Karnan.  He is quite fluent in Tamil also as most telugu actors of yesteryears did most of their shootings in Madras. Has acted as Lord Krishna in more than a dozen films. I've seen Andhraites call him devudu.  I saw the biopic of NTR acted by his son balaiyya and in which there's a scene where devotees going to Tirupati will also go and meet NTR in his house. While donning it for the first time someone says that NTR's mischievous smile will make fans believe that he is Lord Krishna.

Shivaji Ganesan is an criminally underrated actor. Most pan Indian audiences don't even know about him. :dissapointed: Even the indian government didn't felicitate him on time but the french government bestowed chevalier title in the mid 90s.

Shivaji is recognised as an over actor by the masses today. Which was true during the later stages of his career, but it was his initial performances that earned him the title of a thespian. He was an excellent actor no doubt.
