Best Pak batting talent since Inzi (says more about Pak batting legacy), that's it, long way to go before we start putting him in top tier bracket. I always maintain Kohli is T20 GOAT, even if he sucks in T20Is and IPLs till the end of his career I will rate him highly based on those 2 WT20s. In tests again an ATG, just cos of superhuman Smith many don't realize how special Kohli is. But in ODIs all he has done in his peak years is meaningless stats boosting. Even if he averages 60 at 120SR for the rest of his career, difficult to rate him as ATG unless he does something special in matches of significance. Sure hitting 4 4s in an over off Kesrick Williams or 200 SR ton against Lanka in Indore may impress many here resulting in threads like Kohli is better than Viv, I have stopped taking those feats seriously. I will judge bowlers the same way, that is why I'll wait for a few more years before rating bilateral beasts like Chahal/Kuldeep. Your logic has no sense, you cannot judge any player based on few matches. Dhoni just because of his world cup final score does not become better batsman than Kohli or Sachin.Kohli played a vital role in 2011 finals after early loss of two wickets without him scoring those runs and more importantly building a partnership after early fall of wickets that ensured Dhoni could do his thing. Rohit Sharma is not better batsman in any format than Kohli eventhough he had better world cup than Kohli. Worldcup win is always a feather in the cap but will not define the greatness of any player. Viv played in three world cup finals and failed in two. Edited November 3, 2020 by putrevus Norman 1

IMO he is even ahead of Imran Khan in my all time Asian ODI XI just cos of 2019 WC. Elevated him from decent/good to undisputed ATG. 2nd greatest ODI AR from Asia behind Kapil and the GOAT spin AR in the format. That's what WCs do. Won't make a mediocre player great (remember Geoff Allott?) but without 1 outstanding WC or special KO performance there will be question marks no matter how impressive the overall stats look (Amla foremost example). Can you imagine how Inzi would be rated if not for the 1992 SF? You will find me consistent in my views, I always maintain that Dravid was a top ODI player of his time, too many critics of him on this forum but you only need to show them the 1999 WC numbers to make your point. You are unnecessarily bringing the WC angle to a general statement that Babar is no where near Virat in terms of class as of yet. Everyone share the thought Virat has choked so far in his career but the limited point made here is the style of batting. You are going on a tangent about WC performance. Norman 1

Of course Babar Azam is not in the class of Root/Kane yet...forget the other two. Regarding other points I don't even remember how we got here, anyway no more digression from my side. SK_IH 1
putrevus Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Kapil Dev took just one wicket in 1983 world cup finals but Jimmy took 3/12 and Madan Lal too 3/34 .Are they better bowlers than Kapil dev.
Gollum Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Chisoro should never have missed that, what a tool. Now stats column will show the result as tie, when it should have been Zim W. SK_IH 1

Yeah that's sad, just reflects the final scoreline, in stats column it is tie. Indo-Pak WT20 2007 is marked as tie, both the super over wins against NZ in T20s earlier this year marked as ties.

We hate Kohli for other reasons perhaps his other antics gets under our skin But on pure cricketing terms he has one blot in his career which not being able to play a knock of substance in KOs in his 2 WC outings(remember a young Kohli played a crucial innings of 38 at Wankhede that night when it could have been all curtains) Otherwise he has done enough to stay at top 3 and remain superior to other pretenders Offtopic he didn't choke in CT2013 final He didn't choke in T20 WC final 2014 And he didn't choke in T20 WC SF 2016 His dumb selections and choking in 50 over WC s have offcourse disappointed us (as we expect this from a player of his stature) SK_IH and raki05 2

Sachin always started fast and slowed down when nearing 100. 5 150 plus score in 460 matches vs 8 or Rohit is not even a comparision. Viv is only closest to Rohit in terms of having that extra gear. Kohli played as no3 with two very strong openers so he did not get as many chances as Sachin or Rohit.
Serpico Posted November 3, 2020 Posted November 3, 2020 Coming to the current match again, Babar as the captain and centurion should have come to bat in the super over and faced the first ball. If he can't show such spine against a 14th ranked team in a dead rubber match, what can he do against a quality opposition in an important match? Look at ben stokes, after playing a nerve wracking innings in the world cup final, he immediately came to bat in the super over. He showed weakness today, even his post match statement shows lack of self belief "The three players we sent in the Super Over were sent after careful thought; All these players are power-hitters as you have seen in T20s - these players are finishers and that was the plan behind sending them to bat in the Super Over; All these players, Fakhar,Khushdil, Iftikhar, are power-hitters and utilize the overs well; We sent in Khushdil and Iftikhar as we wanted a left-right combination - but unfortunately they couldn't finish the job" putrevus 1
