maniac Posted November 8, 2020 Posted November 8, 2020 Criteria: Batsmen who play across all formats Situation: A big occasion, a tricky situation ( Ignore the formats) and a world class bowling attack. Here is the list with my ranking Smith (3) Williamson (1) Stokes (2) Kohli (7) Root (10) ABDV (considering he is still active and will make a comeback) (8) Rohit (4) Butler (5) Babar Azam (9) Warner (6) If you want to stick with AB is retired criteria then you may add Faf du pleiss or any other batsman.
Serpico Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 Why would you not list the names in the order of ranking lol. I don't think abd is coming back into sa team, they're done with him Big occasion & tricky situation? Smith>Stokes>Williamson>Morgan>Kohli>Root>Buttler
Gollum Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 (edited) Smith Stokes <big gap> ABDV Kane <daylight> Others Edited November 9, 2020 by Gollum
Gollum Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 (edited) AB above Kane because he has played many clutch knocks in test cricket. In 2015 WC plain bad luck. Edited November 9, 2020 by Gollum

Clutch knocks man not performing in normal matches. There is no doubt AB is a good player but he doesn't have good innings under pressure! Nikola and speedheat 2

If you over-analyze, same can be said about a lot of players. Edited November 9, 2020 by Majestic
Majestic Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 My go to pick is Ben Stokes followed by Steven Smith, third is Kane Williamson and then ABD and then the rest.

BacktoCricaddict Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 It it is for a WC knockout or something, I wouldn't touch the South Africans or Virat Kohli.

Even in this IPL, he has played some superb knocks including v MI (took RCB past 200) v KKR (probably a lone performer esp when it comes to playing at a SR that changed the game) v RR (took Unadkat apart to win the game) v SRH in the eliminator (again a one man show) If your definition is of playing well in a KO game - he did that too as listed above.

Vilander Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Stokes Smith Williamson Butler Rohit Warner AB Kohli Root Babar
Vilander Posted November 10, 2020 Posted November 10, 2020 Infact if It were a video game you will give like 50 pc etc increase of certain attributes to Stokes and Smith if game pressure increases. Its like their skill. More pressure they get better, Dhoni was like that in the past.
