Team India will keep going downhill as long as Kohli and Shastri retain their jobs as captain and coach

What wins he needs to show, he has made this team compete in all conditions. India flopped miserably in away tests till he became the coach then atleast they have competed in all the tests before this NZ series. He has won odi and t20 series everywhere. He won Asia cup too.Only thing he did not win was world cup. What else do you want from a coach in 3 years.

I would not want any of the IPL coaches to coach Indian team. Maybe Flemming/Mahela. IPL is after foreign coaches, are any Indian coaches coaching in IPL as head coaches.  IPL is not barometer for anything. Why do people mix IPL with international cricket.

Dhoni does not have IPL 100s Saha has 2 if I am not wrong, will I want Dhoni to be my wk in all formats or Saha. Answer is Dhoni always. So don't bring IPL into discussion here.

System is there to help players grow, system cannot create players if there is no talent in the system. If system could create players we would have rolled 100  Kapil Devs by now.

Winning a series here and there is not the same as winning WC. He lost it. Any half way decent coach with better selection could have won it.

Beating Pakistan/BD and SL is not what these bufoons are paid for. They are supposed to beat the best i.e. Australia/England/NZ and SA on consistent basis.

I don't know what your standards are but losing to small nation like NZ that does not even take cricket seriously is pathetic. You are making excuses for this moron.

For starters one prefer a settled team going into WC. They way India was trying to find replacements for positions in during the WC was his failure. He should have been fired after that debacle.

the counter question ull get by bhakt is but there was no talent in india for that spot?

No talent to replace Vijay Shankar, jhadav? The current core of Mayank, Iyer, Rahul were still around but they never got a good run. Biryani who was supposedly getting groomed number 4. Suddenly isn’t before the WC. These are failures of team management not lack of talent.

Again our problems with big hitting & spinners will only get solved if we give others chances to fail. Going back to tried tested failures like Kulcha isn’t going to help.

Too much power to Kohli is backfiring. Now has hot rid of Rohit Sharma who was challenging him regularly. It's clear he is missing support of a second player like Dhoni or Rohit as mentioned by others. Remember, when he started as captain he still used to field in deep and Dhoni would guide bowlers.
Bumrah bowled a beauty to Shaun Marsh in 2018 just before lunch. It was Rohit who advised him to go for slow yorker. Yes, Rohit is not lean as Kohli but he is equally good and has sharper mind than him.

Our 2023 WC is done because Kohli has not planning. If he is removed from captaincy and Rohit is made captain, even then we will have toxic environment in the team. We aren't going on a right path now.

Oh so people sitting at home and posting rubbish on forum has more cricketing iq than a certified legend like Virat:phehe:

People e talking about kumble.. We all saw his coaching pedigree in IPL:phew: if he were our coach we wud be setting 225 as target with that pathetic defensive approach.

It's your favorite blue eyed boys like pandya and rahul were going at sr of 100 or below most of the innings so stop blaming Kohli for everything from toss to weather.

Incase you didnt notice, this is a cricket forum. Discussing cricket and our point of views is what we do on such forums.

Just because someone is a class player does not meam he can stay away from criticism. You are highly questioning the iq of regular people. If that was the case, there would be no political elections, because obviously your kind of argument means whatever the politician does or did , he would do correct because he knows more about politics.

Constructive criticism is fine.

Abusing players for not winning toss is stupidity.

I agree immediate problem was bowling indeed. Kohli is the long term problem.

Wasn't bowling success during last tour was attributed to Kohli that he build the culture and these bowlers. So now once bowlers are failing shouldn't Kohli take some blame or he can only bask in success glory of bowlers. BtW any matches you loose because of bad bowling/ batting so why is captain there for if you only blame bowlers and batters for loss. Shouldn't he be guiding the bowlers to which line and length bowls to try some fast short pitch stuff, try bouncers on body line, some slower outside off stump.

But he keeps motivating the bowlers with his choicest MC's and BC's, doesnt he? Apparently, thats a big motivational strategy!:phehe:

Quite well summed up. India cannot drop Kohli as he is the top run scorer and captain. Without him the losses will increase because India will miss his runs. He won't play under some other captain. So Indian cricket fraternity has to learn to live with Kohli the super star atleast until the end of 2023 WC. By that time Sharma will be 36?.

Rahul will be 31 in 3 yrs. In fact he will be about 35 yrs during 2027. Hope his form is not in decline due to ageing factor. It would have been wise to change captaincy when we had lost last WC. Atleast we would have two world cups from some one else which helps in continuity.

Haha.

Instead of accepting that bowling was trash here we come with yet another thread on captaincy.

We never learn.

I am actually waiting for the second test lets see what excuses we come up with.

Any bowling unit can struggle on these pitches, captain can make a difference with right bowing changes , field setting etc ..the difference is probably 25-30 runs , a target of 330-340 instead of 370-380 which is par and cashable

How can he have settled players when players who were given chances did not perform. He is a coach not a miracle maker.
