Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Couple ka Intent nahin neeche kohli ka dekho Chasing 390 batting at 35 in 42 balls that to around the phase when iyer was being peppered with short stuff Could be ignored as one of innings but kohli intent has been lil safe in last few yrs take recent IPL for example Banton 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 29, 2020 Author Posted November 29, 2020 In Last game even dhawan slowed down
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 29, 2020 Author Posted November 29, 2020 this is another one, Surely he is ATG in ODI but if u see the name none from top sides of the world At this point his approach is working as rohit is at his peak but once the decline comes it will be like dhoni whose taking the game deep costed india many games during his decline
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 29, 2020 Author Posted November 29, 2020 All of them are great individuals but question is - does this work together as group coz all are in same ship wasting a lot of balls in certain phases . Taking time to build is fine but at the end those balls will never come back n its just 300 balls
rkt.india Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Kohli isn't the ideal #3 anymore. He bats too slowly. Suhaan 1

The problem I see is Kohli is unable to rotate strike from ball one. Is it because he is out of form or is he declining? He has not scored 100 in his last 11 matches. just 2 100s in last 25 matches. Which is not good at all.No one has their position forever, if better players are there older players have to make way.

Also he n rohit has a mindset problem that they like to control the game from start rather being dictated by the pace of game which is the case when 2 wkts are down Not to forget leg spin issues in recent yrs
Ankit_sharma03 Posted November 29, 2020 Author Posted November 29, 2020 Also this was the phase Aus got the few overs of Henriques n Maxi out and had cummins, starc ready when pandya came in . This is where our top order needs to be aware that they cant let go of these avg bowlers overs easily
putrevus Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 If Kohli declines, his fall from top will be very very swift as his game is built on his will power and combativeness rather than sound technique.Kohli always will have problem with moving deliveries. If he not number 3, I don't see him adding much value at number 4 or 5 as he will get fewer deliveries to get himself in that has been never his game. wanted_desi Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Our system has been rewarding these scores without looking if it helps team or not from last few years. If you are a player, you better try to score at SR of 80-100, and not lose wicket regardless of score. Now KL Rahul has understood the game well and following Rohit, Dhawan and Kohli way. We need Raina and Sehwag type players! Banton, SK_IH, express bowling and 2 others 1 4

Kohli did not get to no3 by somebody gifting him that spot.He earned it by scoring runs.He might be slowing down and could be done also. This series result has no impact other than finding batsmen for future. All that future stars have failed to show up. Rahul is repeating the same mistakes again and again. Cricspin 1

Top three have been carrying this team for last six or 7 years without any support. They did not stop anyone from scoring runs.Top three are reason why this team is not languishing at bottom or rankings.
chewy Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 Hasn't evolved for today's ODIs played and super flat pitches and big hitting Batting lineup needs to be equipped to chase near 400 scores. Krishan, Pant, Rahul, Pandya, Samson, need to play regularly and some of them higher up the order. Plus new captain needed. Rahul or Pandya. Dhawan, Iyer, Rohit need to go, Kohli has game to change but not sure he will.

Top 3 where brilliant for targets no bigger than 325, but not good enough for 400 scores. Maybe pitches like these wont be served for World Cups, but still.need to be prepared. So either India improve their bowling to stop likes of Eng or Aus scoring 350 plus or get more high risk batsmen into top 4. Ankit_sharma03 1

He just needs to build on this, as long as he is there he will make up for the balls if he learns the art of scoring 100s.

No they don't have to change anything other than adding bowlers who can bat to lengthen the batting order.Keyword is bowlers not bits and pieces players. Aussies are very much like India they go where their top thrree take them. 389 is not scored every day. Every team is built differently, India does not have allrounders like England so they cannot compete with them by outslugging them. Adding Iyer and Rahul at number 4 and 5 has given this team some length, they just need to get experience and become more consistent.
SK_IH Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 I will to make 3 points : India's batsman do approach limited over batting in a retrograde way, no doubt about it. Secondly, Top 3 need to be rejigged, Dhawan-Rohit duo has run its course, time for a fresh approach & partnership. Thirdly & most importantly, both games India lost were because of bowling & the match was over in the first innings itself. Australia batted India out of both games. We can lament however much we want about intent & all in the two matches but chasing 375-390, a team loses 10 out of 10 times I think. Ankit_sharma03, Gollum and Jamadagni 3

No he has to develop habbit of scoring 75 to 80 ball 100s from number 5. Once he does that he becomes invaluable asset .He is doing the right thing, by batting at number 5 and he will get there once he understands his role.It takes time to develop players. Rahul should stay put at number 5.
putrevus Posted November 29, 2020 Posted November 29, 2020 (edited) The only change I see if Gill becomes an opener and Dhawan going out.Gill is long way from replacing any of the top three. Edited November 29, 2020 by putrevus
