I don't like Samson that much but he is still 10 times better than manish pandey in t20s.

Remember In t20s 10(5) is better than 30(30)

We already have a world class accumulator in Kohli there's no space for more than one of them.

Sky is good, he should be preferred over both iyer and pandey.

TBF the kohli we had in 2016 was Goat material but i am damn sure that if he keeps on performing like how he did in ipl, even he won't be fit for this team.

Obviously you can support the likes of Kohli bcoz they are proven performers OTOH pandey is a ttf in t20#.

For me SKY is a must

Iyer arguably offers more consistency, but Samson offers more destructive capacity so it's him and SKY somewhere in the lineup... maybe 3 and 5; with Virat at 4 (though that is low )... and with Iyer in the squad.

Pandey is not a T20I batsman sadly.

Samson and Sky. Samson showed his class today. He can play off the back foot to pacers and has amazing hitting range. He will develop well if he was under MI or CSK. Don't put him in RCB :facepalm:SKY has a great IPL and deserves a chance. I somehow dont see it happening with rat at the helm. Pandey is a has been and Iyer cant handle bounce. And Iyer is not the same player that Raina was in his prime to ignore the short ball problems

Sky has already lost his chance as he din't look down when Kohli was starting at him during IPL.

One thing ppl dont get about raina n short ball problem is that u cant attack in t20 for long coz ull have to change overs n plan this is where raina cud take the game away in just few balls which is what iyer cant do

Raina was a massive plus in field as well, can bowl to

Rooting for an 11 atm such as below:

KL

Samson

SKY

Kishan

SDP (c)

Jadeja (or someone else if Jadeja loses form)

Tewatia

Sundar

3rd pacer

Natrajan

Bumrah

That 3rd pacer could be one from Chahar/Thakur who could smack the ball too and provide variations while bowling. We can also try Sundar as an opener a la Narine in the IPL. He opens for TN. SDP can float up the order if the top order fires and a wicket falls in the 11-12 over mark. Today Kohli missed an opportunity by sending Pandey instead of SDP after Samson got out

Consistency

Iyer

Pandey

i also think its a myth and one reason they play low risk game

Pandey lost his place coz of lack of consistency- he was one guy who got enough chances at 4 before WC and wasnt consistent

Iyer sample is small, his test starts now when his problem is out there. Twice Aussies bullied him...only thing that works in his favour is most team dont have attacks who can exploit this consistently

Rohit, KL, Kohli, Dhawan is what u call consistency .....these guys are far lesser and impact wise not enough so its needs to be dug deep.

Yeah he didn't want to bow down before kohli. If I was in SKY's shoes, I would have reacted similarly. What an egomaniac rat is.

avg of 47 sr of 100, 100 in Nzl. Doesn’t seem like a safe game to me. Yes Iyer stars of circumspectly and has short ball problems but has done nothing wrong to be dropped from odis yet

but its a small sample, raina was owning no.3 till he got exposed and was never consistent again

consistency shud be checked in longer time ....rahul atleast has 30+ games n runs in many countries . Rohit, dhawan, kohli hasd done it for yrs n yrs that what consistency is

Iyer has played what 20 games.....20 games is tooo less to call someone consistent it can be just referred as good start

No he hasnt dont much wrong and needs a run now that they have invested in him

Yup. He can chip in when other bowlers are under the pump and an excellent fielder to boot

Iyer can't even hit military medium bowlers on average sized grounds

Iyer has massive problem against pacers and now is even not able to go after spinners in middle overs ,he is deeply mediocre cricketer who can't be given a longer run unless he drastically improves his game against pacers, problem with these guys is they create pressure on other end,t20s are not like odis(even they have fast changed/changing)where at times there is no need for both batsmen to go after bowling,t20s are absolutely about madness(six hitting as 95 % of strips are belter these days) ,you cant be taking your time and leave the responsibility of clearing boundaries on other one, that is where human limitations come to play, limiting your best six hitter to hit sixes all the time will create a mountain to climb

Every batsmen should have the ability to hit sixes, they should be practicing ramp, scoop shots in nets,no way they should be aiming to look beautiful in t20s just play at high SR,simple

You will see even teams from SC move well head of India ,we have to understand it and move accordingly ,most of them won't start playing those scoops and ramps over a night ,it will take some planning ,start early

we are more or less saying the same thing, Iyer deserves few more series in ODis before we even start thinking about the next replacement. Who knows if he can improve by then? He has earned that trust with his stats after 20 games. It’s not like SKY or Padikkal will start smacking 150k short ball in their first game. Iyer for now is a permenant fixture in ODis like it or not. In T20s sure rotate players. I would prefer Samson and want SkY to get his chances even though I personally don’t rate SKY very highly. As a T20 Player May be but not a premier quality bat overall

I am shocked to see the support that Pandey still gets here.. even if its moderate.

Even Iyer,has no shots whatsoever

Had it been pre 2010 s would have made sense but a guy with such limitations isn't suited for LOIs

SKY, Samson in T20s.....easily.

Pandey, Iyer are decent #4 options for ODIs. In T20s we already have Rohit and Kohli, need MO players who can maintain high tempo from the get-go.

However I am ok with Iyer, Pandey in the squad here. Both did well against NZ in NZ earlier this year, drop them but not when they have delivered (don't repeat Nair 300 blunder), what message will it send to others?

Why should only Iyer, Pandey face the axe? Why can't Kohli rest, give captaincy duties to Rahul and take Dhawan with him for a family vacation somewhere :p:. We could have played Mayank and Iyer today in place of those 2, why are these seniors so insecure? Kohli can rest, prepare for the D/N test.
