zen Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 They should try the below in the next practise game esp. if Shaw, Gill & Vihari do not impress Agarwal Pant Pujara Kohli Rahane Saha Ashwin Kuldeep Shami Siraj Bumrah

puneet28 Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 How did you guys find the sponsor logo on shirt? First they started having names and numbers on test cricket shirts and now sponsor logos. Slowly they are just diluting the classic nature of test cricket. OpeningBatsman 1
Majestic Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 Clearly Indian TM see Rishabh Pant as backup option of Saha as he has failed to proved himself in longer format as well. But I expected Saini to be in the XI. Adamant 1
Majestic Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 The last time when Shaw and Gill played in practice game against NZ A, Shaw and Gill both got out for duck as well if my memory serves well. We lost that series 2-0. So, expect the unexpected. We will lose this series 4-0. nevada 1
Sean Bradley Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 (edited) Shaw carrying his IPL form in test cricket aswell, he was such a bright prospect when he first came into the scene, it's disheartening to see him fade away like this. My biggest fear from IPL is that allot of our kids who come from humble backgrounds, they might lose that hunger and pride to represent the country, at a tender age they are being exposed to money, fame, Glam world, the after parties, some might even be content with just playing the IPL and work on the T20 aspect of the game and ignore the test cricketer in them, damn you T20s Edited December 6, 2020 by Sean Bradley Laaloo, Cricspin, OpeningBatsman and 1 other 1 3

If someone has the hunger to excel in Tests he will work hard for it. If money is the only thing that matters to them then good for them, lets find some one else who wants to be a good test cricketer. It's upto the individual. Nobody will prefer test cricket over T20 format unless their T20 game is as bad as Cheteshwar Pujara. Prithvi Shaw has glaring technical deficiencies and has been exposed as a batsman. He needs to work on his technique and sign a county league to get things on track. Going back to domestic will not be enough to fix the issue as there is a gulf of difference between Indian domestic cricket and international test cricket. Sean Bradley and OpeningBatsman 2

Absolutely, can't blame IPL for everything .... if someone is happy playing IPL for e.g. (not necessarily the case here), that is his choice OpeningBatsman 1

MPL logo looks much better than the limited overs jersey. They are integrated into the white jersey with no horrible background square red color as seen in the ODI n T20 jersey. We are just always behind in aesthetics. We don't even have a separate t20 kit for ffs.

These guys will be nobodies if they remain just IPL superstars. In India though, they can earn plenty by playing IPL only but may not be interested in playing test cricket because all the fame and money comes from white ball cricket. OpeningBatsman 1

It is a player's choice on what path they want to take Personally I rate Test = ICC world events > IPL > bilaterals (ODIs & T20s) but a player could rate it differently (and that is ok) raki05 1
OpeningBatsman Posted December 6, 2020 Posted December 6, 2020 This green looks like a sure shot future star. All formats all rounder.

Agree and I am not blaming the IPL, it has its pros and cons, even in 1st ODI in the current tour, we started our chase like we are chasing 290 in 20 overs, T20 cricket has its own repurcussions not only the individual but the entire team got sucked into it. My point is we might end up losing some individual talents, who might not develop to their full potential as a test cricketer, due to early exposure to the richness of IPL.
