Gollum Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 LINK Hamstring injury will take at least 3 weeks for recovery No Kohli for 3 tests, no Ishant (Ishant Sharma Ruled Out Of Australia Tour), no Rohit (could have done well at MCG, SCG ) and now Sir Jaddu....why does this happen before important away tours? Play Kuly in D/N test, at least has X-factor. Or go with 4 quicks+Vihari's offies. If that doesn't work out maybe bring Ashwin in for Boxing Day. AuxiliA and Suhaan 2
Gollum Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Will miss Sir's batting . Playing Saha ahead of Pant will be nuts now but won't put it past this stupid TM.
Gollum Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 (edited) If hamstring injury is serious don't think we need to hurry Jaddu to get fit, let him take his sweet time. So much cricket to be played next year. Definitely going to get smoked in this series now, need miracles. Edited December 7, 2020 by Gollum

We have question marks for the 3rd seamer right now. And people forget that the pink ball has massive stretches of time where the track is flat AF. India need a quality spinner in their ranks. There's a reason why the pink ball is juiced with extra "varnish", and the tracks left green. Because otherwise it would be batsmen feasting away. Still after all that juicing, all you get is certain time periods where the conditions suddenly favor the bowlers - twilight or whatever, when the ball swings massively under lights especially the new one. You don't need 4 quicks to exploit that, just a couple of good ones. After watching Kuldeep and Ashwin bowl in the practice game, I'd go with Ash ahead of Kuldeep for now. cowboysfan, Adamant and Vk1 3

Not having them hurts us terribly. Folks do not realize their test match value because of their terrible mid-decade performances especially in ODIs etc.

Agree, would have been good if we had Ishant and Bhuvi just for the variety....like in the 2018 Jo'burg test. Anyway I was just throwing an idea, if push comes to shove I wouldn't recommend 4 quicks when I must pick the remaining 2 from Umesh/Siraj/Saini. Didn't watch this practice match, only saw the scorecard. Kuly has that X-factor and can account for Smith. Ashwin can be a reliable workhorse who can hold one end up when pitch is flat. Don't expect him to pick heaps of wickets but he has the ability to bowl 40-50 overs in an innings at 2.5-2.7 rpo plus a couple of wickets, has done that many times in the past. If his batting hadn't declined so much I would have had so much more confidence in him. Edited December 7, 2020 by Gollum

Sure he can't play all tests because of his limitations but I would have loved to have him as an option in this D/N test not just for his new ball skills but also late order batting. Missing Bhuvi in Eng, then NZ, now this D/N test is tough to accept, this team's legacy could have been so much better with a fully fit Bhuvi. sandeep 1
Gollum Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Anderson who has been underwhelming all his life in Aus. We are missing a good swing bowler. NZ series too was lost cos we kept on wasting the new ball. sandeep 1
Ankit_sharma03 Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 I have a feeling this cud be Ashwin tour like kumble 2003 but then his batsman were putting runs on board, if our batsman dont do that spinners cant do much overseas
Gollum Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Latest development about Jaddu changes everything. If still TM insists on benching Pant, heads must roll. 37 yo Saha must not be played in SENA when we have such a weak lower order, hell I don't even have confidence in Rahane and Vihari's batting, our #5 and #6. And Kohli barring that 254* against RSA last year has had a torrid time in tests for over 2 years now. sandeep 1

At least we will have some good excuses if we end up losing, unlike the "but we didn't have our cheat-arse chootihaas" excuse we got from the Ozzies last time.

Man you hate Smith so much I like you as a poster but Smith also happens to be my fav non-Indian batsman you know!!! BacktoCricaddict 1
Gollum Posted December 7, 2020 Author Posted December 7, 2020 Also blame BCCI for scheduling these stupid white ball matches before an important test tour. Aussies always come here for 4 tests or ODIs+T20s, since 2001 they haven't played white ball and red ball cricket in same tour. And even if they do so in the future I am sure they'll insist upon playing tests first. AuxiliA and Cricspin 2

Khota Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 Depends on the extent of injury. It could be weeks to months depending upon the condition.
LordPrabhzy Posted December 8, 2020 Posted December 8, 2020 I dunno why you guys are worried so much. Either way we are going to lose 4-0. Our opener is not playing the practice 3 day match and most probs sit in on the bench for the 3rd T20. Our captain sahab is not playing warm up either. I mean this the the importance we are giving to the tour. let them enjoy their sightseeing and shopping tour in peace.
