putrevus Posted January 9, 2021 Posted January 9, 2021 Why are people in a rush to replace perfectly capable players. It was Rahul then Shaw before who were the flavors of month. Now it is Gill.Gill will get plenty of chances if he is good in the format he is currently selected.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

express bowling Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 (edited) In ODIs, our biggest issue in the last 4 years has been batting collapses at the beginning, the moment there is something in it for the seamers. We need a good quality test match batsman as one of the openers. Someone who can score quickly too. Gill could be the perfect answer. Edited January 10, 2021 by express bowling Mosher 1

When it seams around all it takes is one ball to get someone out, If u think gill doesnt have technique issue wait it will also found. HE also plays away from body and feet remains stuck a lot of times. IF its seaming around wkts will fall at top specially under chase pressure . In pressure game its more about temperament. Therefore if dhawan has to be replaced it has to be with someone who brings more, dhawan s/r , being a leftie and being experienced give him edge over gill and its not that dhawan has lost it. I want to replace dhawan but with a dasher not gill . Gill biggest strength is his game against spin so his best position shud be 4 and our biggest problem have been middle order on days of top 3 collapsing . Gill is in same gear as Kohli or Rohit as of now and infact less

And his temperament looks solid. I don't want a dasher with poor technique at the top in ODIs. Scoring big runs has not been a problem for us in this format if we have wickets in hand. I would like a dasher at the top in T20Is. Mosher 1

Gill is a special player but still to draw such conclusion about anyone we need to wait for a period of time Also for that one game in 15 games we cant make a strategy . This same logic didnt work in rahane case who went missing in white ball when it seamed around despite having a good technique coz all it takes is one ball. Kohli has way sound tighter technique then gill now, even he has failed in those games. So the strategy ur making for that one day of seaming around also has a hole that eventually it will take one ball. IF anything india needs someone in middle who can play spin well as Kohli n rahul have developed a chink agaisnt leggies. IF it seaming around more often then not it will come down to middle order . Quote I don't want a dasher with poor technique at the top in ODIs. Scoring big runs has not been a problem for us in this format if we have wickets in hand. In that semi it was actually pant who controlled the situation Also everyone has a chink in his game - shaw n mayank has been found, gill will also be found and white ball cricket doesnt help these young batsman. This safe mentality will always keep us as a 300-330 side max Edited January 10, 2021 by Ankit_sharma03

This safe mentality will always keep us as a 300-330 side max Rahul's technique was good ... got destroyed when he adjusted his game for T20s. Which is why I don't want Gill in the T20I team in the next few years. Rahul is so talented, I hope he gets some time to work on his defensive game. Play a few FC games for this purpose and work with a good batting coach. Mayank never had a good technique against pace. Had and has issues with both his off stump game as well as against short balls. Mayank has never interested me as a batsman. Pant has a good enough technique against pace. And gets a lot of time to play the quicks. But I don't think the TM is considering him as an opener and he has probably not opened in senior cricket either. Mosher 1
Adamant Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Dhawan isn't a hero? Really I will take him over Gambhir, its not just about knockouts. Dhawan has been our best batsman in tourneys since last 7 years and has scored runs everywhere in odis. His overall record is great Amongst indian odi. Openers.: 1.Tendulkar 2.Sharma 3.Ganguly 4.Dhawan 5.Gambhir 6.Sehwag

This safe mentality will always keep us as a 300-330 side max Gill should not bat in the middle order atleast in India if not everywhere. He should come at 3 as in Indian conditions typically openers stay alive beyond 15 overs and he will be expected to play the middle overs anyways handling the spinners. He does not yet have the game to slog , hence he won't be suited at 4 which typically will start from 25-30 overs and may go beyond 40. Kohli should drop down to 4 as he can up the strike rate of needed. As far as Kohli's weakness against spin is concerned, I agree bu that is more of a style issue than a technique issue. Question is whether Kohli has grown too old to acknowledge and mend. Finally depending on Rohit and Dhawan for 2023 WC might work if they fit. However they have got very injury prone in recent years and also age is on the wrong side. While Dhawan can be in the mix we should see if Jaiswal can be groomed in. And then during the tournament it can be a call between Dhawan and Jaiswal . Also like to keep Mayank in the mix as a backup to Rohit.

Kohli became kohli batting at 3 he shud stay at 3 , Gill plays spin much better then anyone in this team so if comes in he comes in at 4. HE can play shot specially when set so he ll have enough time for that at 4 Ideally ill want gill at 3 but that is kohli spot and no way u move ur best batsman IF u ask me as of now gill wont be in my ODI XI , my no.4 wud be jaddu or pant , if anything team india needs a mix of Right n left in order to make bowlers do more mistake. ENG n MI has used this to great extent 14 minutes ago, RajBan said: As far as Kohli's weakness against spin is concerned, I agree bu that is more of a style issue than a technique issue. Lone Wolf Posted January 10, 2021 Posted January 10, 2021 Tbh moving Kohli to no 4 won't be a bad idea. Gill looks perfect at 3.. But I think they'll continue to bench him as a 3rd opener. Iyer will still get 3odis vs Eng.
