Hope he is honest with himself and doesn't let his ego get in the way of making a smart decision.  Even if he is 70% fit now, he should sit because fielding for long hours and bowling will be a huge strain on his back.  He has done his part in the series, and may be doing the team a dis-favor by pushing to play.

Doubt the concerned player is the decision maker here. We have highly paid fitness coach, physio traveling with side and captain/coach to make the call. They will even have fitness tests before the match. Not like we don't have replacement (Kuldeep), all up to Rahane now. They must learn from experience, we all know what happened when TM gambled with Ash in 2018 Southampton. Even if they want him to play he must be part of a 5 man-bowling attack and used sparingly against LHBs or his bunnies, need some insurance.

Am more worried about the fielding than bowling.  If it is a lower back injury, standing for long hours can do no good.  With Kuldeep Yadav available, there is no upside to playing Ashwin unless his back is 90 % or better.

Disappointing but glad that Southampton 2018 mistake wasn't repeated by our TM. Kuly should have replaced him.

Pretty good series for him, was in the MOTS race with Cummins especially after the Sydney blockathon. Not often can you say that about a visiting spinner in Australia!!!

Hope he regains full fitness for home series against England. Lot of workload on him now that Jaddu is unavailable.

He should really give up on all the T20 leagues and domestic tourneys he plays, if he wants to prolong his test career and end up with most wickets by Indian bowler

His LOI ship has been sailed, he had a pretty good career, won a world cup, champions trophy, could have won a Wt20 too but he should make peace with it now

This is becoming a recurring theme for Ashwin, he is not able to stay fit  for an entire series. He is always getting niggles in the later part of the tours. This series, I can understand his injuries but this has been happening with him since 2017.

Its sad that we are not using him LOI, also i dnt get this play less cricket to prolong. These guys already spend more then half the year in lockdown and still getting injured so sitting at home also doesnt help. If a player has hit his peak in terms of understand his game use him the best u can.
