Poor RCB fans. Weakling needs hired muscle to make up for his shortcomings. Dependable savior AB is getting old, so now Maxi has been hired. If AB has a lean spell and Maxi does his usual slackeroo thing, Cap'n Wrogn will be in more than a spot of bother.

What exactly was his contribution as a Captain in this series except for wasting DRS reviews ? Take him out, team's performances will only go up.

He and his PR advisors perhaps realise this. No wonder suddenly we saw him consulting Rohit, at times even letting him lead and set the field.

Yes it’s strange actually 32-33 has to be golden period of the batsman and great batsman usually decline after 35 never seen that much steep decline from any batsman maybe Amla regressed after 32 but not like that.

Maybe cause Kohli is older than his official age?

Theres no common age for when decline sets in,  some fall off quickly while others are able to maintain performance levels.

Kohli is in decline the stats show that, its a question of whether he can peak again or or the decline gets steeper.

To be fair to Kohli, he hasn't had a very steep terminal declined as such. But he is not as dominant as earlier and is not even among the top 2-3 batsmen in the side, forget being in the world. Teams have found out a major chink in his technique when playing leg spin and are exploiting that.

Whether he scores runs or not does not matter much to the team (except in T20s where he bats in the top 3 and consumes a lot of overs). No wonder his on field antics have gone up proportionately as the big scores have dried up.

Have a balanced perspective on everything. As a batsman he is still India s no 1. Rohit is inconsistent Pant is new and flashy and we expect him to be that.. rahul well enough said, Kishan is new but is a suspect against high quality pace, dhawan again enough said, sky is an option but again we need to see him in odis.. as a captain in LOI definitely Rohit is a better option but as a batsman he is still no 1.. whole of India is not Pune.. there will be different pitches different situations.. we need to see how others peform.. its very easy to play 3 games in 3 same / similar pitches with set template..

On the basis of what?

Since he started opening (that's for the last 15 odd tests, more than 18 months long time frame) Rohit has been a much better Test bat than Kohli

In ODIs, Rohit has been the better batsman since the WC itself, Rahul post the WC

In T20Is, he is the best batsman but is more of an accumulator and without aggressors at the other end will not have much impact

Kohli is certainly not the best batsman in the team right now.  In fact nobody is ATM.  Pant is our X factor player & these players don't have high averages but bigger impact.

Rohit has consistency issues.  Though recent form suggests he is better but even he hasn't played a lot of cricket post WC.  Dhawan we all know.

In Tests batting is totally reliant on Rohit & Pant.  Sundar has been saving our as* in lower order.  Others are just passengers.  Overall highly unpredictable line up in tests.  Rahane can randomly come good outta nowhere.  Kohli has been mediocre for a while.

In short there is no clear best batsman in Test team.

seeing pipe dreams isn't healthy, everyone knows kohli isn't going anywhere for the foreseeable future ie the next 3 years or so at least with all these icc trophies on the table to cement his legacy and enhance his brand value. he doesn't have sachin's serenity to step down after realizing the team is better off with someone else leading it.

He is been so poor for over a year now, still people call him our best

He's no where near one of the best, just leave it

He will certainly score those simple sober unharming 50s to fool his emotional fans but in reality he has sucked in LOIs and hasn't set world on fire in tests either, infact his timely departure in tests down under ensured we didn't get humiliated and emerge victorious

His miserable decline will be out exposed with each passing day

Saw this coming long before.... Even started a thread w.r.t this. Now  this is getting more and more evident.

His record starting from  19 Oct 2019...

https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/player/253802.html?class=11;spanmax1=30+Mar+2021;spanmin1=19+oct+2019;spanval1=span;template=results;type=batting

Not even a single 100+ against Non minnow....Sucking in the 2 main formats...

Remove that  136 vs minnow BAN ....then a total of  949 runs in 29 inns @32.72 avg: in the 2 main formats ..... What a mediocre performance...

Then he has the audacity to drop others  soo early  for  average performances.

No wonder team has been doing   lot better  when he is not present in the team.He better   resign as captain and try  to redeem his batting .That is the only option.

He knows that if he quits as captain, the endless length of rope he gives himself will disappear. Given how badly he does under pressure, he risks losing his place altogether if he were to play as a batsman alone. It is up to the selectors to cut him down to size because it has been proven beyond doubt that he is not indispensable either as captain or batsman. "He is only 32, he is the best batsman(based on career average, not current effectiveness)" etc are futile arguments. He looks like an old, worn out impostor of his once prolific self.
