So many edges just flew to the boundary. The slip should have instead been a fly slip as edges from his bowling travel quick and far, and fine leg and third man should have been very fine, almost behind the wicket-keeper. I hope SRH management doesn't just look at the runs conceded and discourage or drop Umran. There is NOTHING more exciting than watching a fast bowler going full throttle at a batsman in cricket. And when that fast bowler is Indian, it is truly exhilarating to watch. We need to encourage him even more. Kartik will be back soon and most probably will replace Umran.

vishalvirsingh Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 i did not watch kuldeep sen's match. heard he was special..do share about his speed, bounce, swing , line and length. like umran is 10/10 on Pace between 138 to 153.3 K . 10/10 on bounce( gets as much bounce at will , as close to Prasidh). swing - 4 /10 . line- 6/10 ( fairly good , but he has to identify the weakness of batsman nd bowl that ball to him) and length- 6/10( he can bowl good length, short full , yorker but can improve)

Remember him regularly beating Mark Waugh for pace in his debut match . And he had a whippy action which deceived many batters. But his problem was lack of height and bounce. He used to hit the sweet spot of the bat a bit too often and go for runs as s result. Personally I am looking for tall pacers in general unless one is special like Bumrah or express like Umran. Talking about new pacers .... Combining tall bouncy pacers like Prasidh, Khaleel, Akashdeep with quick and skiddy pacers like Sen and Umran, would be nice. And also combining quick seam bowlers ( Prasidh, Akashdeep ) and quick swing bowlers ( Sen ) to cover all bases. ( Although Prasidh can swing the ball too ) EB, in my book, mental strength comes first and then physical strength. I don't want any mentally weak player in the team even if he has the physique of Curtly Ambrose and the skills of Wasim Akram. I have a feeling that Krishna is mentally weak. I'd love to be proven wrong though. speedheat 1

Kuldeep Sen was consistently in the 140 k to 147 k range without going flat out. Was averaging 143 k after 2 over. He is about 6'2". Despite being tall, he is more of a skiddy pacer, although he gets good enough bounce snd carry. Good line and length in this match He has a natural outswinger which we have noticed a lot in Ranji Trophy. He has a good yorker as well as wide yorker. Decent slower ball. Did not bowl any bouncers. The most impressive point was the temperament he displayed in the last over, against a rampaging Stoinis, to win it for his team. He knew which balls to bowl to this particular batter and executed them too. In a nutshell, he was quick and skilful. rollingstoned Posted April 11, 2022 Posted April 11, 2022 Umrans ball to get Wade was the definition of unplayable. Guy didn't even review and knew he was done for pace. In general with such bowlers you need different field settings coz batsmen getting beaten for pace still often edge it to 3rd man n the slips need to be deeper n finer. He needs to find the right length to bowl which will be different for different conditions. I had a look at Kuldeep sens first class stats and found that he averages over 30. Is there something I'm missing? Finally it seems as though our stable of young fast bowlers n medium pacers is much bigger n more impressive than the batsmen we are producing which would have been unthinkable a few yrs ago. express bowling and Suhaan 2

Shami is a good example of a similar thing happening. If one just looked at him bowling with the white ball ... he keeps crumbling during death overs .... and may look mentally weak. But he still remains a fantastic red ball bowler as well as a good new ball bowler with the white ball. Suhaan, Lord, Mosher and 1 other 4

Is there something I'm missing? Many of our state team captains don't know how to set fields to really quick pacers. Happened regularly with Srinath too. Happened today with Umran. A fast pacer, who gets regular outswing, is bound to get edges but they may not be caught if the slips are too close or too few or too wide. Mosher, Suhaan and rollingstoned 1 2

On a full delivery even if both bowled same pace of 150, Umran will feel quicker because of the lower release point, less distance to travel for the ball. Chakdephatte, Suhaan and express bowling 1 2

He got good bounce, and was quick and ball was zipping. I really liked his action, looks like he can clock 150k in upcoming matches, runup and follow through was real smooth. Accuracy was on the money, and was able to bowl yorkers in the last over with the wet ball, against an established hitter like Stonis. singhvivek141 Posted April 12, 2022 Posted April 12, 2022 (edited) While we all are so happy about Umran's performance, I would also like to add here that we may be loosing Kartik Tyagi in this cycle. Kartik IMO, is a more complete bowler than Umran, he had every delivery in his arsenal + he's mentally strong. He bowled pretty well against ABDV and his bowling in death against PBKS was pure gold. You won't see such bowling by a 20 year old kid against Pooran, Hooda and Allen. Unfortunately, SRH has only 1 spot open (Bhuvi and Natarajan are fixed), and unless Umran is rested, Kartik isn't gonna get any chances. Edited April 12, 2022 by singhvivek141

Karthik has that mentality to hurt batsmen. Need more bowlers like that. Shami has that. Booms has that. Siraj does. That's why Indian bowling attack is terrifying to face. Karthik is a better prospect than even umran. Don't get me wrong. Umran is good too but atm karthik appears more complete. singhvivek141 1
