When i was living in India, it used to take more than 1 hr for me to go from town to college 14 km(this is actual in kotion time). But I travel from centre of a city to my home in 50 mins, distance 40 miles.

Government both state and central has failed to live up in different levels in India.

When i was living in India, it used to take more than 1 hr for me to go from town to college 14 km(this is actual in kotion time). West is ahead of India in every sense. For example: Number of doctors/nurses/hospitals/policemen per 10000 population in India is nowhere close to what is in West. The system in West is matured and feeds back to admin. Look at earnings, a high skilled person earns same in India to what benefits system pays to someone in West on dole. Lalu wasn’t brought in front of judges till he became old, David Cameroon is facing heat within 2 minths as soon as it was known that he was sending txts to Rishi Sunak for lobbying. So when they say, they could have done things this way and that way, people forget that what is practical in their Western Country is impossible to achieve in India atleast till next 20-30 years. Everyone knows medical infrastructure in India is much worse than in rich countries. Even govts know this, which is why their carelessness is even more baffling. When the cases started rising steadily in maharashtra, they should have limited travel between states and alerted everyone again to take it as serious as last March. They should have quickly approved more brands of vaccines for use in India. Should have put more focus on vaccine drive and not send so many out of the country. All of this happened because those power (both central and states) had wrong priorities in mind. Even now, there's a severe lack of co-ordination or control over hospital resource allocation from govts. No command centers that people in need can approach to, no strict actions on hospitals that hoard medicines and hospital beds, people have to beg ngos and strangers on internet to direct them to hospitals that are admitting emergencies. Don't forget that India is poor but Indian govt is not broke. They have enough money to order vaccines now and they had it 6 months ago. We successfully coordinated huge vaccination drives for other diseases before, if govt actually gave a crap they could have spent more time to do it now too. So many vaccines got wasted in early phases because people didn't take them seriously.. Same people who took polio vaccines seriously didn't care now because the messaging from govt is not serious enough. Hospitals absolutely need to be told what to do, which is why we have regulatory bodies. They need strict regulations so that they can coordinate better and don't exploit people in emergencies. Developed countries don't just have more resources they also have the system to efficiently direct these resources. We saw what was happening when medical Infra was overwhelmed in other countries, yet did nothing to avoid that situation after one year of head start.

India could have avoided export of vaccines then, but a lot of it was contractual of SII and partnerships with UN for poorer countries. Still the blame goes to BJP. No country is capable of deaths due to lack of resources, distribution doesn’t cater to sudden surge of demand. A lot of people died in NY due to non availability of beds, even now hospitalization for non-Covid treatment in US is a not smooth. The damage control BJP has to do is with communication. Their PR is the worst with insensitive remarks from their spokies. Stop defending and kaam pe lag jao.
