According to BBC Urdu (link): (1) The son of that old man told that whole Police story is false. He told that his family never used the Taweez or Magic things, but their family is carpenter for many generations. He told that Police is telling a lie that other Muslims were involved in that attack. (2) Police claimed in it's report that old man was not compelled to say "Jai Sri Ram" in the video. It is correct that in one video (which got lot of circulation), one could not hear anything. But there is another video too, where that old man was telling that the attackers compelled him to chant "Jai Sri Ram". Now Police is telling that it is going to launch a case against that old person too, while he is making false statements and inciting the sectarian hatred.
