If you look at 2012 we got 2 shooting 2 wrestling 1 boxing and 1 badminton.

Rio 1 badminton 1 wrestling

Beijing 1 shooting 1 boxing 1 wrestling

The truth is india needed 2 from shooting and 2 from wrsetling to make 6 or overtake it.

Shooting has been a huge failure. Wrsetling we need to wait.

Even boxing. Mens 7 boxers won 1 match between them. Barring Satish kumar indian men boxing has been a **** show even with low expectations.

So what do indians do? Keep expectations so low that even winning a single medal is over achievement ?

I think quality wise we had better contingent in 2012 who converted their medals. We smashed 2010 Commonwealths with over 100 medals  and 38 golds. Next 2 CWGs we are struggling to cross 70 medals.

naah that is due to home advantage. teams always do well in home games - whether it be olympics, cwg, asian etc. japan is killing it right now.

this is due to a variety of reasons:

1. home support (not this time though), no/less travel, familiarity with grounds/conditions etc.

2. countries can actually choose which sports are hosted and have choice in some sports. indonesia made sure that an indonesian martial art was held in asian games 2018 so they could win more medals. japan reintroduced baseball this time cause they are good at it. baseball wont be there in 2024 paris but will be again reintroduced in 2028 cause americans are good at it and its in la.

3. relaxed qualification criteria for hosts including wildcards which mean more athletes can compete.

We need to host it and dominate.

Yes just think india having 2,3 boxers in same weight category and with only 2 matches to win for bronze medal we would have 2 indian boxers facing off in quarter finals and jashn shuru as we would get a meydaal. Kabaddi surely will be a sport in 2036 if we manage to host Olympics.

Wasn't 2010 our best Asian games as well ranking wise  ?

May be our players were more confident after good outings in CWG at home.

We Indians are pathetic. Kitna bhi tariqqi kare still have the crab mentality. Read this. I didn’t expect this from Seema

Kaur said she was touched by the humility of Sandra Perkovic of Croatia and Valarie Allman of the United States, who congratulated her after her performance in the qualification round.

Allman (66.42m) qualified for the final as the best while Perkovic (63.75m) was third.

"Perkovic is a great athlete with two Olympic gold medals (2012 and 2016); she was having her meal but then she came to me and congratulated me. The American, Allman, also did the same. She told me it was a very good effort from me. I was touched; I am like nobody when compared to them."

She said, in contrast, her senior colleague in the Indian team had made "unsubstantiated" accusations on her.

Veteran Seema Punia, who failed to qualify for the final on Saturday, had asked the AFI to conduct a hyperandrogenism test on Kaur after her junior colleague produced two big throws of 65.06m and 66.59m recently to sit at number six in the world.

"I was hurt (by the accusation). She is senior to me and instead of giving guidance to me, she made accusations without any proof," Kaur said, without taking naming anyone.

ranking wise yes but medals wise we did better in 2018 - all medal categories.

ranking was 2 places lower but then again indonesia did play the home card to jump up to no 4 in 2018 (2018 - 98 medals, 2014 - 20 medals and rank 15, 2010 - 17 medals and rank 15)

didn't see that in 2010 and 2014 cause china and korea are anyways above us so their jump didn't affect us.

in 2010 china had 416 medals, 2014 they had 345 and in 2018 290 (All no 1 but 416 is a lot)

korea had 228 in 2014 and 2nd before declining to 177 and 3rd in 2018.

if we host an asian games now expect ~100-150 and cwg ~150-200.

should look to get up to 20-25 by 2032 brisbane which i think is definitely possible and then use  the home games boost.

Now guys do you see why india don't win medals despite coming close most of the time ? So don't take it seriously.

Same with cricket. All these loudas are making millions. So they lack the motivation to perform when it matters.

Who knows? They're underrepresented compared to US greats. These Soviet athletes are stoic temperamentally, even more than East Asians.

Why not carrom. Ashwin can be the face. Any game where there is inherent skill should be appreciated ( not ludo where it is throw of dice)
