There was an opener for Pak - Sami Aslam I think his name was.  Scored a bunch of runs at u19, was made the sacrificial bakra - sorry, opener, for an away series in England.  Batted quite decent actually - then the old Pakjabi disease of siyaasat struck, and he was chucked out of the team.  Lucky for him, an immigration pathway opened to the US, and IIRC he's going to be playing cricket in US and earning a decent living.  Absolutely cannot be blamed for doing that after what he went through.  

 

And now here we are, with Pakistan batting putting up football scores repeatedly in test cricket, and the most loudmouth tailunted phans in cricket are reduced to praying that a 35 year old mujra dancer at the crease will save them from total embarrassment.

Their switch to a variant of the Dukes ball for test cricket, coupled with preparing super-slow outfields, and helpful-ish pitches has made a huge difference. 

 

Not saying that these bowlers aren't quality -they definitely are.

they need a player like Darren Bravo or Hope amidst the madness. Too many hacks. Gayle may be 5-6 years back would be the guy who gives you confidence but this lineup can easily implode and won’t win games consistently but what they can do is on their day beat any team and chase down any total. That’s what makes them dangerous in KO’s.

 

I haven’t seen Pooran or Hetmeyer play long innings either.

Hope doesn't keep in tests. He's like kl, keeper in Lois and opening batsman in teats
