That's coz we had proper batsman earlier, nowadays we have FTB's. Also England was weaker compared to Australia.

Not in the 80's & even then we did better. The reason why they've done better in recent years is the 5 test series & of course doctored pitches!

Not really. According to the BBC and metoffice forecasts, it looks pretty good. The BBC forecast tends to be the most reliable in the UK these days.

 

There might be a few passing showers on some days but that is always a possibility in England whatever the forecast. The outlook is nothing like what we had in Southampton. I would not expect rain to play spoilsport in this test.

Bhai in those days our batsman were regular county players, for Vengsarkar England was his second home, Gavaskar was obviously ATG and Amarnath was obviously great away from home. Can't compare moderb day t20 mercenaries to those players, if current players also  start prioritizing and playing regular test cricket over t20 and lois they will do as good as the former.

Go back and see last England India series it's stupid to compare Aus and Eng conditions and impact of toss. India will need to win few tosses to have an advantage in Eng.

Conditions In England and n.z are vastly different. Tosses make a huge difference. 

England don't win much If I'd lose tosses vs top sides. 

Neither does n.z.

 

Every time india won the toss in n.z, they struggled to beat India. Either lost or drew at best.
