He beat the weakest Oz squad in generations! The only team weaker that we'd played was back in 1977/78 when nearly the entire first  eleven was playing WSC!

They were not Anderson/Broad level, but they were well-suited for home conditions. go look at home avgs of caddick, cork, mullally, gough, fraser, ealham, etc.

Modern Indian batsmen do not know how to play on backfoot. The last of their kind SRT, Laxman, Dravid, etc are all gone.

Actually they used back foot well in australia. Just don't know how to counter swing.

I have NEVER seen Chokohlibaba use the backfoot effectively. Pujara and Hahane sometimes when they are confident. All are primarily front foot players. Kohli’s instinct is to thrust his front foot. Nowhere near even remotely in the calibre of SRT.

Lol no... They are most average bunch.  Swing no swing they have zero backfoot or horizontal bat strokes.

This gen batsmen also suck balls against spin bowling compared to the previous one. Maybe that has something to do with it. and not just kohli,rahane, rahul gen but the Samson, Shaw gen too.

This. You can cut only a short ball . But the best players can play those square drives off the backfoot to a good length ball .

This interview was from an year back.  

 

Today's game. Look where he is receiving that short of a good length delivery to edge it to the keeper.  Manjrekar wrote an article last year as well.  He probably has one of the best technical coach to have in the dressing room.  Yet committing the same error. What gives?
