I hope they dont open with Rohit and Rahul, and Kohli at 3..That is a disaster when we score 60 runs in first 10 overs and leave the finishing tasks to the MO..Rohit,Kohli opening and Ishan Kishan at 3 is much better.

Ipl sides carry 18-25 players with every option avl . Either u follow matchup or go on instinct which i think only dhoni doesnt in IPL now rest all follow matchups. Actually dhoni also does now, he neways always carries a lot of bowling options. 

Team that do mess either choose to ignore it or are in state of panic.

The only missing chink in the playing XI is  lack of batting at No. 8.

The problem lies from hereon. Since we don't have Thakur and Deepak Chahar, we don't have anybody who can bat with high strikerate( apart from Axar who is a backup to Jadeja and unlikely to play)

So 8-11 would be

2 of Rahul Chahr, Ashwin, Varun

2 of Bumrah, Bhuvi, Shami

I believe Shardul will travel with the team so if Hardik get injured midway, Shardul will step in. 

But yes, Jadeja at no. 7 and then 4 bowlers doesn't inspire that much confidence if batting has an off day.

Consider a hypothetical situation of India need 35 from 20 balls with Jadeja and Rahul Chahar on crease. We will lose from that position. Add Shardul in there and now the odds will be of winning.

 

I see lack of firepower in lower order a real concern.

Shardul and Deepak are there standbys in case of injury.

Chakravarty and Axar were not required if you have Ashwin and Jaddu. They could have been in standby.

Shardul & Deepak both are in reserves..  So If anyone gets injured they will be straightaway in. 

I'd have preferred Shardul over Bhuvi as he provides much better option in Batting but seems like they will go with Axar at 8 vs Pakistan.

Axar wasnt

Chakavorty isnt a similar bowler to anyone, any bowler who adds variety to attack is needed ...specially who can be an X factor

Their is anyways no replacement of hardik in whole country 

 

Tewatia was one who shud have been tried for no.7 , they didnt

I'll open with Axar vs Babar & Rizwan as both like pace on the ball.  Axar has one of the best economy rates in PP. 

If he puts pressure or gets them out..  It's over for Pak.

Amazing after 5 and half years since last Wt20, Our bowling attack is more or less same as we played in 2016. Bumrah,Bhuvi,Jaddu,Ashwin,Pandya. Chahal-Kuldeep got only 1 ICC tournament to play- 2019 WC..

It will be okayish..  It's not that we have world beaters outside.  These are pretty much the lower middle order batting options in reserve bar Sundar. 

In T20 cricket I think it won't  matter that much.   Rohit Rahul Kohli Surya alone would play 13-14 overs by themselves.
