Good news for RCB- Kohli to step down from captaincy of RCB after this season

Stepping down as captain is fine, but announcing that he wouldn't play for any other franchise is weird.  Why would RCB want to retain him for sure for cricketing reasons instead of keeping their options open.

Even Dhoni and Rohit have played for other franchises although Dhoni didn't have to play against CSK

Obviously it isn't the franchise pushing him.. Majority of RCBs fans are through brand Kohli and they wouldn't dare do anything to lose him. He wouldn't be making statements like he would play for RCB till the end of his career if that was the case since apart from Mumbai and Chennai, all other IPL sides would take him as captain without a second thought. Let's hope it unleashes Virat the T20 batsmen, we all have been missing.

Think this decision was an afterthought after the backlash he received for saying that he stepped down from Indian T20 captaincy to manage workload. IPL workload is probably way higher. He never mentioned RCB captaincy till yesterday and even the first press conference he only talked about the new additions like Hasaranga & Chameera

ps: For people talking about comparison to Ganguly-Chappell episode, dont think they understand the magnitude of cricket discussions & writing then. An entire DG was created to support Ganguly . Journos like Prem Panicker were hounded for supporting Chappell.

Ohh the philosopher.!!

Lol

Within 5 6 months he will be back to his best and your theory would be lying in the corner gathering dust.

Don’t pretend to be Aristotle just bcoz you know two quotes. Lol

There are reports he keeps ignoring batting coaches giving him tips and acts arrogantly on any advice. If that is true, then its difficult to see how he improves. Players like Sachin were taking tips and working on new things till they were 40

Telegraph reported that Virat Kohli snapped at one of the coaches when he offered suggestions during practice session at the nets. “Don’t confuse me,” the ace batsman yelled in an aggressive tone. The source emphasised that Virat Kohli has been unable to handle his dismal performance well and its effect had started to reflect in his behaviour.
